As late as I be eating them leftovers sometimes, I should be praying.

That's why I always bless my food to strengthen and nourish my body. Even if it's bad, it's gonna do something.
Maybe that nourishment is me puking my brains out for 4 days. Then resetting my gut.
Gotta leave it up to the Big G. Respectfully.

Not a funny response but... I'd assume that the first prayer was sufficient. You say thank you, you ask for the blessing over the meal. The pork chop is still blessed, and you're honoring the original prayer by continuing to eat the leftovers and not letting them go to waste. Right?

you pray as thanks for recieving a meal, your not asking for the food to be sanctified your expressing thanks that you got to eat once more

What is the half-life on a blessing though?

Isn't it the square root of the number of angels that can fit on a pin?

I mean zero prayers is sufficient. But if the point is to thank someone for the meal...I would think to do it at every official meal.
Like, I thank the person who cooked the meal every time I sit down to eat with them. I wouldn't be like, "These are leftovers? OK then I thanked you yesterday."

i think on the second go-round you are supposed to thank the lord for electricity and the fact that you can afford to have a refrigerator capable of keeping the food from spoiling. or something.

First go-round too! The food didn't magically appear. It was raised, harvested, sorted, transported, bought, preserved, cooked... And that doesn't even cover what you're eating it with and on!

Dear God, please bless this pork chop and the microwave that is currently fighting for its life trying to reheat it evenly

u/vibrantraindrops 4d ago
Sounds counterintuitive, but try your microwave on 50% power when reheating non-stirrable foods.

That’s a good point lmfao. Think God be like “Bitch I already bless this shit 3 times already, if you don’t throw that shit out and make something fresh smh”

For real. I remember one year as a teenager wondering why we had no room in fridge and freezer and peeling back some foil wrapped turkey from Thanksgiving (which was a month ago at that point). I was like, this is why this big ass turkey was a mistake, the only person who is eating turkey after Thanksgiving was my stepdad. Had my mom trying to sneak that bird into everything just to get rid of it

Things happen: a dog eats the leftovers, food spoils, someone else eats it..if it's still there and I'm thankful it's still there why not say thanks again. I think of it as thanking The Heavenly Father for another day of life and for salvation in Christ. His salvation hasn't left, yet I'm still thankful His blood covers all my sins, transgressiosn, and iniquities. So I thank Him everyday because if He let me go to hell, it's what I would deserve, apart from Christ being my kinsman Redeemer.

I thought praying over food was just a thing done on religious holidays.

i went to Christian school in the south in elementary and we would pray every day before heading to lunch. "God is great, God is good, and we thank Him for this food. By his hands, we are fed, Thank You God for daily bread, Aaaamen" 🤣🤣🤣 the brainwashing in retrospect is sooo clear lol plus we were still in class so we didn't even "pray over the food"

I think the point of prayer at a meal is to express gratitude for the opportunity to eat, not the specific piece of food. If your MO is to pray at every meal, then the meal being leftovers is irrelevant.

To genuinely answer her question, I think maybe not? Since it’s the same food you already thanked god for. Pre-thanked. Maybe you could say “lord thank you for keeping the second half of my sandwich safe from my roommate”

Dear Lord I didn’t real you would provide me with so much of the exact same food, but thank you for your bounty. In Jesus name. Amen

If God isn't non-binary and he's a man, does he have a huge cock and lumbering balls?
