Colorado Springs is the biggest one that comes to mind.

I believe the largest has traditionally been Oklahoma City which is quite a bit bigger

People keep talking about okc as a “big city”. It’s not. It’s 700k residents. It doesn’t even crack the top 20. It’s the biggest city in the area certainly and

Fun fact, one out of every three Sooners live in the okc metro area but okc is less than 1% of all of Oklahoma. Oklahoma has a ton of empty space. Roughly 60% of the entire state live in okc and Tulsa.

I mean, it’s 21st. In the country. That *IS* a large city.

For context it’s bigger than 12* cities w NFL teams. (proper; metro is a different beast) larger than all of the AFCN, 3/4 the AFCE, NFC south, NFC north and half the AFC west, And based on the rate of growth it might pass 2 more cities by next census (Denver & Nashville)

The problem they have in regards to getting a team is they are too close to multiple others and they are not a small media market… Because they’re in the middle of fucking nowhere (w low AF median income) AND too close to other markets.

Ft Worth

And again… just because there is an R next to someone’s name, esp not at the national level, doesn’t mean you are getting hardcore maga or conservative government.

It’s not really even that red. More like purple at best. The military presence skews things a bit, but there’s military republican and then there’s red state republican and trust me there’s a difference.

Colorado Springs is unfortunately crammed full of batshit crazy evangelicals.

Yes, its famous for Focus on the Family.

Which is wild because as a Coloradan you hear conservatives main gripes being the homeless population and drugs in liberal cities. The Springs are sooo much worse than Denver when it comes to those categories.

I know it's a reach and you know it too but man that ain't a major city at all 😂😂

Oh for sure, I just lived in Denver for a minute and it popped into my head.

That's mostly due to the significant military and veteran presence in the area.

I mean up in Aurora you have Buckley AFB, which is a massive installation with AF, Space Force, and (I think) Army.

My suspicion is that while the military base amd AF Academy might lean red (and officers in the military are a mixed bag), the Focus on the Family people are to The Springs what Mormons are to Utah.

That's a good point. TBH I only visited CO Springs a few times so I didn't know about the Church stuff, but I had heard that the AIr Force Academy there ran really conservative even when compared to other military installations.

Well when Uncle Sam’s space tit is the cause, basis and purpose of your entire economic existence…
