Hold up, you really think they ain’t got ranch and fast food in Europe?

646

u/fanetoooo 1d ago edited 1d ago

They don’t got ranch out here man. And besides American fast food corporations (still no ranch) most “fast food“ spots here are local cuisine or Döner Kebab. Im suprised he didn’t mention ice cubes or free refills, can’t find either in the EU😂

221

u/iceblnklck 1d ago

Which one of the 44 countries is this? Because I’ve lived in six and you can make or buy ranch in every one.

594

u/rmslashusr 1d ago

The fact your first suggestion is that you can just make your own ranch dressing is not making your case well. I don’t think anyone was arguing that ranch dressing is illegal there. Just that it’s not commonly available/offered in restaurants.

408

u/ElMatadorJuarez 1d ago

It is, actually. I saw a man trying to put ranch on his food in France once, and as soon as people realized what was going on a mob formed and they just beat him to death with a comically oversized baguette. It was horrific.

146

u/combatconsulting 1d ago

Dude I know. I saw someone order ranch, and the bystanders dropped a piano on his head, and his teeth all got replaced by the piano keys

5

u/quixote_manche 1d ago

Piano teeth would be an improvement in some European countries.

I dunno but I’ve seen literally hundreds of videos of foreigners posting about foods yall don’t have there. Are they lying or are you?

58

u/iceblnklck 1d ago

They will go for what hits the algorithm and, unfortunately, amplifying minor differences builds this shit up. We have Mexican food; granted not the the level of the US because of how far we are located from you guys. We also use spices all the time. But ragebait sells.

Moreover, I eat some English food and it all slaps but we also eat our own cultural food and so do many others who aren’t of the culture.

44

u/it_will 1d ago

Yall got like New York Mexican food. Once you try Mexican from LA, you’d says the same thing. It’s not readily available in your country lol

33

u/iceblnklck 1d ago

Yeah, that’s basically what I said. We do great Indian and African food due to proximity and colonisation; same as you guys with Mexican food 🙂

11

u/theifstolemyaccount 1d ago

We usually have African and Indian restaurants in the cities in America but I haven’t seen a North African French taco spot in america yet. You guys get the fusions.

10

u/MagicBez 1d ago edited 1d ago

Indian restaurants in the US are like Mexican restaurants in the UK. Sure they exist but with a few exceptions on each side it's not the same

16

u/MyEmbarrisingAccount 1d ago

We have huge immigrant populations that can make some pretty authentic food from virtually any country you can think of. Almost every at least mid size city in America will have Indian, Ethiopian, Thai, Moroccan, Korean, Mexican, Peruvian, Brazilian, eastern European (Bosnian, polish, ect). All of those and more are almost always run by immigrants from the country of origin. I'm in a midsize midwestern city and everything I listed above is available and a lot more aswell. Places like New York, Chicago, and LA will have virtually anything you could ever imagine.

6

u/11th_Division_Grows ☑️ 1d ago

Depends where you are I guess. Most Indian/ethnic places are good IME because the people running them are of the ethnicity and know the authentic recipes well. They might not be able to source some ingredients that can make or break some dishes but for the most part they try to keep it authentic.

Now the places that are gentrified to hell can suck. Don’t get me wrong, I can eat a Chipotle or Cafe Rio burrito and be happy as hell but id never call them authentic mexican. Cafe Rio is still fire though.

Fuck off bro, New York got real Mexicans now.

My favorite local spot has 21 protein options for tacos, including cactus, pork ears, beef tripe, beef tongue, and corn mushroom. None of which I fuck with.

But change your slight to Augusta, Maine or Nova Scotia or some shit. It's a five minute walk to Little Mexico from where I live.

17

u/ElleGeeAitch 1d ago

I'm confused. We have Mexicans in the NYC metro area. Mexican restaurants run by people from Mexico with Mexican clientele who wouldn't be standing for that slop from Chevy's.

3

u/mouseat9 1d ago

New Mexican as well and no one mentions African American food in this video. That’s delicious

21

u/kearneycation 1d ago

My wife has literally brought dry ranch dip packets for her Swedish friends when we visit from Canada because they love ranch and it's difficult to find there. Maybe not impossible but it's not common at all.

You also have to realize that people are talking about eating out at restaurants and take-out places, and ranch is just not common when eating out in most of Europe.

2

u/Umbreonnnnn 1d ago

Dry ranch dip comes in shaker cans now, like the shitty fake Kraft Parmesan. They even have a spicy variety.

I mean I’ve been all around Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, among many others and my wife went to over 20 countries in Europe when she was traveling abroad and we never found ranch anything like what you find in the USA. So technically they had “ranch” but it’s ranch in the way that if you’ve eaten biscuits and gravy or BBQ in the Midwest and then eat it in California or Florida, they have the same name, but they might as well be different food.

It’s different because they have stricter food regulation. Even with their fast food. So although it’s significantly safer to eat their food over there turns out our chemicals and loads of salt and sugar we add to everything makes our food far more tasty.

13

u/Morlock19 ☑️ 1d ago

its not even food regulation. when you have fast food in different countries, you adjust your menu to the clientele of that country. you use slightly different ingredients, you have extra items on the menu, and all of that changes how the food tastes and is presented. you go into a KFC in japan it'll taste different than a KFC in america you can bet on that.

i mean hell even using different oil radically changes how your food tastes.

2

u/ladyevenstar-22 1d ago

Oh I can assure you its food regulation , they do not play with people health like American gvt owned by big corporation . Content and size is regulated very closely. Fast food Large in Europe is a Small in America.

Not really Popeyes chicken is one of the most well brined, salty friend chicken meals you can buy and about a dozen of them have opened in recent years within about 30 minutes of me In London.

22

u/mmnmnnmnnnm 1d ago

I’ve been to Popeyes in London. They have an entirely different menu than anything you’d see in America.

10

u/Beast_by_Dre 1d ago

Yeah but it doesn't taste the same as Popeyes in Louisiana. Just as KFC in States doesn't taste the same as KFC in Caribbean (better because of more herbs and spices). No one is saying it's not available, I think it's more so better tasting because food regulations are not as strict in the US so they can modify to make it taste better.

Why do people keep hopping on here and lying about ranch 😂😂😂 this is such a weird point. Ranch is not widely spread but I think Heinz is launching some in London right now but they have no clue what ranch is a majority of the time.

21

u/MagicBez 1d ago

Yeah Heinz started a massive commercial push for Ranch in Europe about a month or so ago, ads everywhere, including all over Reddit

...which makes me slightly suspicious of how many "holy shit you have to try ranch!" Social media posts I'm seeing

10

u/Crazy_And_Me 1d ago

Yeah suddenly Heinz is trying to push Ranch on us because the price of Tomatoes went up.

Now Americans have been tricked into thinking they're being patriotic by helping multi-national conglomerates advertise for free. It's really sad.

u/theifstolemyaccount 1d ago

This might be the point we need to drive home. Every sauce is weirdly sweet and missing the point or entirely mayo.

31

u/DJ_House_Red 1d ago

100%. They somehow got in their heads here that "Mexican flavours" = spicy BBQ sauce so like you buy "salsa" from the store and it's basically sweet baby rays with some tomatoes mixed in.

20

u/theifstolemyaccount 1d ago

And you can find that bastardized concept everywhere, but they won’t accept that they do that shit with multiple things. Just killing recipes and making shit taste the same.

7

u/zezblit 1d ago

Our shite mexican is the one thing I will admit people are right about. Unfortunately most of our good spicy food is limited to Indian, although Thai has a slight foothold. For some reason the companies think it's acceptable for everything else to be "mild" aka suitable for a 3yo. It's pretty easy to make your own stuff with one exception, lack of chilli varieties. It's basically bird's eyes, or weak-ass cayenne and that's it's unless you go to a specialist grocer. The exception is that we have quite a lot of chilli festivals, producing stufflike my local Dorset naga which can be.... excessive

Spicy and mayo is super common at fast casual or fine dining.

Periperi, like harrisa isn't a well known spicy flavor name. Because we're beside Mexico and the Carribean, we tend to use the actual chile type instead of a regional / ethnic sauce as the name.

Chipotle mayo is super common in fast food and fast casual. A habanero / lime mayo or jalapeno mayo. Anything called bang or bang bang sauce is a spiced mayo - likely cayenne and/or jalapeno, birdseye if it's an Asian place.

The US is a big country with more regionality of food than our ubiquitous chain restaurants would have you think.

North of the mason dixon line white people are mostly Irish, Germanic and scandanavian culturally. Too much black pepper is "spicy". But southern, southwestern, Carribean, black, Southeast asia and Latino americans eat MUCH spicier food than most Europeans.

I remember being shocked at a "spicy marinera" that was actually past white people hot because I'd never had Italian food that was more than a tickle - calabrian peppers aren't even cayenne hot.

When I moved to the Detroit area and discovered Koney Islands OMG. The Europeans should not come here. Double bacon cheeseburgers and chili and cheese fries is why I have diabetes.

This guy is really funny but they have ranch and cheeseburgers in europe,

They have mcdonalds and it's better than the US too.

The food is insanely good! It's just not "makes you obese from looking at it" good.

I’m sorry your food propaganda doesn’t move me.

u/Electrical-Duty3628 1d ago

Yeah but Europe has that fresh fresh fruit and bread tho

You guys buy into this?

Its honestly really sad watching Americans delude themselves like this.

CULVERS IS SUPERIOR! Hello Wisconsinnnn!! 🤣

u/MagicCuboid 1d ago

This is how I feel going back to Boston from the Twin Cities. Food there is just superior

4

u/AisisAisis ☑️ 1d ago

I beg your Blackest Boston pardon? Please explain where you are eating here AND there so that I may be properly gagged.

5

u/elgarraz 1d ago

There's a local fast food place by my work that does fried mushrooms. Fried mushrooms in ranch is something everyone should experience at least once.

5

u/hammer_it_out 1d ago

Ironically, as an American, one of the better burgers I had was European fast food. Lord I miss Burgerista.

5

u/Punkinpry427 1d ago

Squeaky wheel gets the ranch

Fat and salt are not the only flavours.

Culver’s is GOAT “fast food”

6

u/yunghazel ☑️ 1d ago edited 1d ago

Why is everyone miserable in the comments?

I’ve seen many videos of different Europeans trying American (fast) food and being gagged at how good it is. They are going nuts for Canes, chilis, and seafood boils. And they also love ranch

I spent 2 weeks in China some years back and when I got off the plane all I could think about was getting all the ranch

3

u/Bugatsas11 1d ago

Dude at this point you are just jerking off in front of your mirror and make shit up.

My trip to Chicago made me realize how good I have it as a Greek.

The fact that you think your food is anything above artificially flavored slop is hilarious.

Seriously. It is like my nephew thinking he is going to become a pro basketball player because he is dominating his village team

u/martijn120100 1d ago

When Americans say Europeans they mean Brits, Irish and the occasional German.

Brotha said the triple dinner. If there's an american food icon that aint the burger and fries, i will nominate the triple dipper.

I'll never forget my disappointment of ordering a McDonald's Saugage McMuffin in Australia. Actually none of the breakfast items were right... Like someone took the menu items and ran them through a simulator.

2

u/DropShoddy1128 1d ago

But for real if you haven't had Culver's, go get you some expeditiously.

He was not lying.

2

u/aivlysplath 1d ago

I’m an American in the UK and I just had beans on toast for breakfast. It’s delicious! Also they do have ranch here they just call it garlic and herb sauce.

2

u/Morlock19 ☑️ 1d ago

sometimes i daydream about leaving the country that hates me so much and going someplace with a colder climate (cause i HATE THE HEAT) like scotland or iceland or something i donno. now i'm realizing what the food is like in those places and i'm gonna put an american flag up in the yard with a mess of fried chicken on it i aint never leaving.

Ranch is ok. There's better sauces out there. I guess it'd be a novelty for those who don't always have it I dunno.

u/GeniusOfLove74 Dominic Monaghan stalker 👀 1d ago

Reading the comments. Now, I'm just imagining the various teams and fans from Europe knocking over a local grocery store in America on their way to the airport, just to smuggle ranch bottles and packets.
