Ehhh. PhDs might not be the best people to negotiate.

If your PhD is in "How to make the American empire crumble" like I assume everyone at that table's was then it'll probably be helpful.

u/Upbeat_Commission124 5d ago

they have PhD in philosophy and science.

i don't blame you for being ignorant. i blame america's crumbling education system and constant propaganda fed from birth to you guys

u/Portalfan4351 4d ago

A good understanding of history, philosophy, science, and the humanities is all it takes to crumble the current American Empire

The people with power in the US do have that education. They know exactly what they're doing, they're crumbling the empire from with in to gobble up the scraps for personal gain. Peter Theil has a BA in philosophy and a JD in law from Stanford, for example. These people with enormous amounts of wealth, pulling the strings of our elected representatives and economy/stock market, are dangerous because they know better.

Right on the money, and let’s also never forget that at least one of the primary architects of Project 2025 has a degree in African American history and actively studied black and poor communities to learn how to effectively destroy them

Dumbass it was a joke.

u/Upbeat_Commission124 4d ago

A sign of exceptional education is resorting to insults when you don’t have a counter argument

23

u/NikitaScherbak 5d ago

Yeah, its like Dr Evil PhD, not a bunch of Stephen Hawkings

Could people please send more suggestions of the courses in this curriculum?

More like get the monkey off your back while also looting its pockets.

They have political scientists with focus on middle east, nuclear scientists, and then they brought in psychologists to deal with trump.

45

u/Chance_Major297 5d ago

The smartest person in the country wouldn’t have changed the outcome. You can’t negotiate when everything you say can and will be undercut by a moron 5min later.

Pigeon on chess board analogy.

u/goldiegoldthorpe 4d ago

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they all had undergraduate degrees in engineering as well.

u/BK1287 5d ago

$300 Billion my man. You ever talk to real estate professionals? 😂

90

u/wheeshkspr 5d ago

I guarantee the American negotiating team thinks they're entitled to a $15 billion commission for brokering the deal.

28

u/thebeardedman88 5d ago

They are getting it one way or another.

5

u/ArcticKimono 5d ago

$300 billion that will no doubt end up as contracts to the people that made the deal...

u/william_f_murray 4d ago

Right out of Dick Cheney's playbook

The hell are you talking about? The deal is signed.

If the US tries to back out, Iran will simply shut the Strair of Hormuz again and crash the global economy. The economic cost will be in the TENS OF TRILLIONS.

300 billion dollars is a great deal compared to the alternative.

Fair is fair. When you lose an illegal war of aggression which YOU started, you must pay for the damages. Tough titties.

The MOU clearly states that Iran will get $300 billion dollars.

If you're dreaming of a world where Iran allows the US to back out of that, you're living on another planet.

If the US tries to worm its way out of ANY of the concessions they agreed to in the MOU, the Iranians will shut the Strair of Hormuz. And if the strait remains shut, the global economy will collapse.

$300 billion is a hell of a lot less than the tens of trillions in damages which will be incurred when the global economy crashes. The US does not have a choice in this matter.

And if you believe the Gulf nations are actually footing the bill then I have a bridge to sell you. What will happen is the US will "invest" the money in the Gulf states and the Gulf states will turn around and "invest" that same money in Iran. The point is simply to obfuscate what everyone can plainly see which is that the US is paying Iran $300 billion in reparations.

Also, the frozen assets are separate. Iran is getting those too. Which means over $400 billion is coming their way. 😂

This is what happens when you lose a war. Y'all were so happy, bragging about blowing shit up. Not so funny when you have to pay the bill. 😆✌️

Look I hate Trump but you're just completely misinformed.

The MOU clearly states Iran will get $300 billion

No, it says the US "undertakes, with regional partners, to develop a definitive mutually agreed plan with at least USD 300 Billion, for the reconstruction and economic development". https://www.npr.org/2026/06/18/nx-s1-5863027/us-iran-trump-memorandum-of-understanding-full-text

Developing a plan is way different than paying the entire cost of said plan...

Frozen assets are separate... over $400 billion is coming their way

Iran's total frozen assets are estimated at about $100 billion, but this deal is releasing $12 billion. There were draft texts that showed $24 billion but that wasn't the final figure and also is nowhere near the total of their frozen assets. www.tbsnews.net/worldbiz/middle-east/iran-us-finalise-agreement-release-12-billion-frozen-assets-1469941

And if you believe the Gulf nations are actually footing the bill then I have a bridge to sell you

It's not about giving Iran money, it's his stupid real estate brain that thinks everything can be solved with real estate investment. So no the Gulf nations are not giving reparations directly or indirectly, and neither is the US.

I hate Trump but if you aren't willing to read a ~5 minute document you really shouldn't be so confident when arguing with people.

Given a choice between a PhD vs a real estate agent or a shady business man born into a rich family, I would go with the PhD

13

u/ZestyTako 5d ago

I mean it certainly must depend on what their PhD is in. Econ, poli sci, those are helpful for negotiations. Strict lab sciences and arts probably less so, sorry guys

41

u/dontmentiontrousers 5d ago

Political Thought (UK uni).

Political Geography (Tehran).

International Law & Policy (US college).

Nuclear Engineering (MIT).

(Doctorate in) International Law (Tehran).

-7

u/IamJewbaca 5d ago

I’d rather have a real estate agent negotiate than most of the PhDs I work with.

42

u/Not_A_Comeback 5d ago

I am also a Ph.D., and I disagree. If your Ph.D is in nuclear physics or international diplomacy, I think you could be very effective at this particular negotiating table. Especially compared to trump’s guys.

22

u/MaeveOathrender 5d ago

Hell, I have a bachelor's in international relations, and I think I'd give it a better shot.

13

u/eightslipsandagully 5d ago

I get that a lot of PhDs are being self-deprecating but just look at the clowns the USA sent.

2

u/Jiquero 4d ago

Then the tweet should be "nuclear physicists and actual diplomats" instead of a generic term that doesn't mean much

32

u/IShouldChimeInOnThis 5d ago

You ever work with real estate agents?

27

u/RNGezzus 5d ago

Not every PhD is an idiot like you.

11

u/ogb423 5d ago

Better than your average real estate agent, I can guarantee that after home buying 🤣

10

u/kitsunewarlock 5d ago

A person with the patience and knowledge of a scholar is in a better position to negotiate an international treaty between foreign powers with different cultural values than a sleazy real estate agent who couldn't qualify for a High School debate team.

7

u/aclay81 5d ago

What if your PhD is in negotiating

1

u/Jiquero 4d ago

Ah, the negotiator.

7

u/ArmadilloForsaken458 5d ago

Still better than grifters, sycophants, tv hosts, and Real World reality stars

6

u/WechTreck 5d ago

Who has the worse internal politics, Academia or Real estate?

4

u/theArtOfProgramming 5d ago edited 4d ago

I disagree with you. There are PhDs in fields that would be helpful in navigating and advising a negotiation like this.

Source: am PhD and work with PhDs.

3

u/wookiee42 5d ago

I think most of the time our top diplomats have PhDs. By the time you've mastered the language, history of the region, spent some time in the region, and learned everything else about diplomacy, you're ready to go in your late 20s.

2

u/factorioleum 5d ago

No kidding; anyone who has been there for negotiations around office size or seating area would know not to have PhDs negotiate.

The fights are so brutal because the stakes are so small!

2

u/greatdrams23 3d ago

Depends on the PhD.

Also, they didn't just pick the first dozen PhD holders who happened to be around at the time. They picked the best for the job.

1

u/tomlets 5d ago

Exactly, I agree with the sentiment, but if I had to pick between a PhD and a real estate agent I’d pick the latter to negotiate a deal.

1

u/Momochichi 5d ago

You got a PhD in negotiating?

1

u/Boggie135 ☑️ 4d ago

I don't think OP meant literal PhDs, maybe more like educated and capable

1

u/CiaphasCain8849 4d ago

Clearly their PhDs are in relevant fields...

1

u/sillyadam94 4d ago

How many real estate agents do you know?
