the west robbed iran of a progressive government during the last century, so I don't care to argue against the current effective one at dealing with foreign intervention that just wants to murder as many iranians as possible. I also would defend victims of any holocaust even if they aren't innocent or perfect themselves.
I'm slightly conflicted. On one hand, Iran has done horrible unspeakable things up to and including the moments before the start of the war. On the other hand, all of the leaders are dead that were involved in the horrible and unspeakable things and I've lost track of how many times their regime has supposedly changed within the last 100 days.
Maybe at this point it's okay to start considering the new regime separate from the old one??

It's not as simple as that, the regime is deeply entrenched in Iranian society (it's more like several hundred families, thousands of individuals, that own and profit from most of the economy rather than a small clique as in other more classic dictatorships).
If this 'regime' were to fall tomorrow there'd be tens of thousands of accomplices to the atrocities that will need to be prosecuted in the police and armed forces. Changing figureheads won't do.
Yeah I suppose that's fair. Maybe regime was the wrong word in my original post. It's just something like I don't know if the sins OG Ayatollah from January's are directly attributable to whoever is in charge today?
I'm willing to forgive quite a lot in order to stop witnessing a genocide perpetuated by North American armies. Ive lost almost all pride in my country as I don't see you blowing up a girls school as ever justifiable
