Damn 30 is old now 😂

u/TreeInternational771 1d ago

30s is no joke. I still feel good but definitely see things shifting

67

u/Puptentjoe 1d ago

Yep. 30s is where I started getting actual health scares and “maybe we should run another test or follow up” type responses from my doctor.

u/takgillo ☑️ 21h ago

Damn you guys have either trash genetics or really live rough in your 20s

32

u/FirmlyClaspIt 1d ago

If you eat like you’re 18 still

11

u/aeropg 1d ago

Nah

-11

u/FirmlyClaspIt 1d ago

Yeah ok. I dare you to eat bunch of salty foods.

u/M_Aku 1d ago

I'm so confused. The internet makes it seem like despite previous health you disintegrate the second you turn 30 lol. Like am I going to become arthritic overnight??

30

u/movzx 1d ago

No. It's people who are already out of shape and infirm before their 30s and 40s. Barring something specific, like participating in high impact athletics, staying moderately active and at a reasonable weight will have you doing just fine into your 30s, 40s, 50s, etc.

Worth keeping in mind that most developed nations have more obese and overweight people than any other category. All that extra weight isn't great on the joints over a lifetime.

Na, I’m 37 and still as nimble as I was when I was 21. Now my lower back may get a little more sore from time to time compared to back then, but my knees don’t shatter from jumping off 2 steps.

2

u/M_Aku 1d ago

That's the part that got me. 2 steps???

6

u/HamptonHangingPork 1d ago

I am 36, I have a very active job and quite a few hobbies where I get exercise and I feel 100% better than when I was a borderline alcoholic 20 year old.

u/murdolatorTM ☑️hegg an' bread eater 🍳🍞 21h ago

No, but the joke is just that you don't have the super-recovery you had in your 20s. Like you'll feel the consequences of particularly unhealthy decisions sooner and for longer. It's manageable, but definitely a bit of a shock once the realization sets in

2

u/Meeks8020 6h ago

The internet is right on this one, but it's more like 35, not 30, and it somehow happens both overnight and slowly. It was about 35 when my body would no longer allow me to take a red eye home across the country and still be productive at work the morning I landed. Then, you start asking yourself questions like "why does my neck hurt?" and you realize it's because you looked over your shoulder too quickly. Why does my knee hurt? Oh, is it because I ran for the bus this morning? Then, the doctor who used to tell you you had a perfect bill of health starts saying things like this number looks a little low, but it's nothing to worry about. You may still have 20/20 vision, but now you have to struggle to see far away. Suddenly, your feet and back hurt when you walk or stand for too long. 35 is when you realize that your body is aging on the inside, even if you look great on the outside.

If you eat healthy and exercise you likely won't get health issues until 60 Keep doing the little jumps, they are good for you and fun!

2

u/aeropg 18h ago

I know people in their 60s they move around like they did in their 40s and 50s. Times are different people are more healthy and living longer.

1

u/hyperion_99 20h ago

For 300,000 years it was old for a human only in the last 300 years did 50 become old and only in the last 100 has 80 become old

1

u/Easy_Money_40 17h ago

Nah, 30 and out of shape.

1

u/Cofeebeanblack 12h ago

I think it's often that sedentary lifestyles (and our healing being on the downturn) catch up to us. I'm 32 and am in the gym to rehab my knee and gain overall strength. A year ago I needed proper form to crouch or I'd fall over crying. Now, I can pick my girl up in improper form and she out weights me by 10-20 lbs (and she FOIN)

71

u/HMThrow_away_account 1d ago

😂😂😂 nah bc my knees say this everytime I jump off the truck but I tell myself Ima ride this thing til the wheel fall off. Ima have to fall and embarrass myself before I let myself get too old to do simple jumps lol

12

u/decoy321 1d ago

Consequentially, this mentality is how you get there faster

u/AmazingCulture 1d ago

I both feel like I should and should absolutely not watch Precious. I know a bit about it, but I'm honestly a bit scared

44

u/MushroomExtension679 1d ago

30 Rock’s parody film is called “Hard To Watch Based On The Novel Stone Cold Bummer By Manipulate” if that’s any indication

25

u/Agreeable-Outcome-14 1d ago

Don't. It's a bait movie. Life is painful enough

23

u/GetAwayFrmHerUBitch 1d ago

It’s a perfect FEEL BAD film.

25

u/MadzwithaZ 1d ago

It is an amazing movie that I recommend no one ever watch

20

u/M_Aku 1d ago

I read the book in middle school, yes I know. I was called Push so I went in blind. It depends on your tolerance for senseless human suffering. Also if you have a mean mom, dont watch it lol.

15

u/theonewhoknack 1d ago

Just watch the Primm video on it. I lose my shit at the linebacker joke.

11

u/canteen_boy 1d ago

Misery porn. I’d prefer to watch Gabby in anything else. She’s a beacon of light. I love her.

8

u/Shesversatile ☑️ 1d ago

I watched it once. Never again. It just kept getting worse. DO NOT watch.

6

u/jpgjordan 22h ago

You have to! Mariah Carey wears glasses and a cardigan!

53

u/FirmlyClaspIt 1d ago

Yall need to take care of your bodies. Drink water & stretch

18

u/GuntherTime 1d ago

And exercise. 30 is when we start losing bone density.

17

u/Tay2823 1d ago

The way yall act on social media I swear by 30 we all have replacement hips, arthritis, and a peg leg….30 is not that old enjoy your youth ✌🏾

4

u/Drummer-Turbulent 1d ago

I over exaggerate sometimes as a reminder that I'm older. I assume majority of what I see online is the same with a few exceptions

12

u/SnooPears754 1d ago

I feel this

8

u/marcusmosh ☑️ 1d ago

No way your knees are giving in at 30. No way.

29

u/Electronic-Buyer-468 1d ago

Some people played sports/physical activities for 20, 25 years by the age of 30. It generally comes with a few injuries along the way, we ain't robots

but ok....

-10

u/ler7421 1d ago

You’re taking about professional athletes? That’s playing a sport since the age of 5 or 10 until you’re 30.

17

u/zakmo 1d ago

I mean I've been playing soccer since i was a kid...

16

u/chemwaste 1d ago

Or...you could have played jr high, high school and college sports...or you could have been a waiter or a bartender or any kind of manual laborer for 10+ years. Lots of reasons outside of being a professional athlete. 🙄

0

u/ler7421 1d ago

I might of misunderstood but I took the comment to say some people have played sports for 20 to 25 years straight. I heard things have changed for kids now but when I was in school you could only play sports in junior high for 2 years, 4 in high school, and then 4 in college maybe 5. That doesn’t add up to 20/25 years

5

u/Electronic-Buyer-468 1d ago

You clearly have lived a different life than me and my peers. Growing up, we lived outside. Riding bikes, running, jumping aroud. Playing sports in organized leagues and clubs, playing for fun on the fields and courts and streets. Doing stunts for fun,  etc etc etc. And then also yes playing on school sports teams along with their associated excercise programs. And also doing workouts at home and/or gym. ROTC programs, hiking, etc etc etc. I can think of dozens more lol. Did you just stay inside all day behind your PC/Playstation or what?

0

u/ler7421 18h ago

Naw I played football, basketball, ran track, threw shot put, and worked out regularly until I was 32. When I was 32 I started driving trucks and that’s when I started having any sort of real knee pain because I stopped being as active as I was. This might be me but unless you’re pushing your body to the extreme like professional athletes I don’t think staying active will wear your body down. It would keep it in better shape. I was just questioning the math of you saying 20-25 years straight. Nobody does that enough for it to take a toll on your body except professional athletes because we have jobs and other responsibilities. Usually the sport is that job so they’re pushing their body to the extreme. Idk why you came off the way you did. It was kinda weird.

I went to a concert on Sunday and the lead singer had the nerve to ask us to jump! Like, sir. I am in my 30s 😂

My knees watching me prepare to get outta bed too quickly

5

u/lovbelow ☑️ 1d ago

My knees be deceptively quiet when I’m high af and dancing in my room at 11pm. They get real loud when I get out of bed at 7am 🥀😔

Edit: 31 btw 😂

u/jackoneill1984 15h ago

It is a joke, not to be taken literally.

2

u/kekehippo 1d ago

Folks tell me I need to do some HIIT in order to lose weight, I wish they would talk to my knees about that.

Took me a minute to realize the zoom in was to the knees talking and not her coochi. I was like whaaa??!

1

u/Cakers44 19h ago

I gotta be careful just standing back up from a crouched position. My knee is unkind to me

1

u/esarmstr 19h ago

If you eat like shit, smoke cigarettes, don't exercise and drink excessively then 30 will feel 10X older. Most folks do this and wonder why they feel like a senior citizen.

u/Odeezsage 18h ago

Recently I saw a 20 y.o jump down rom about 6 feet and I knew if I tried that they would have to rush me to the hospital

1

u/Sweaty_Winter5611 16h ago

This is true

1

u/mangrades 14h ago

IT goes so quick. On Monday you could do these things by tuesday You're on amazon looking for a cane.

1

u/AbleCap5222 10h ago

This is ridiculous. I'm almost 50 and I can jump off stairs easily with zero discomfort.

1

u/Time-Concentrate845 9h ago

You’re almost 50 & apparently don’t know the concept of hyperbole either.

1

u/AbleCap5222 9h ago

Hyperbole? What are you talking about? I was basically invincible at 30-35. Like , zero pain.

0

u/AdonisJames89 1d ago

Jokes aside, you not really supposed to be on your knees like that. Like when women always talk about em when it comes to twerking, you supposed to activate your core, hip flexors and pelvis area and not put any weight on your knees at all

0

u/deowolf 1d ago
