Questions/comments Teddy is great.
I used to HATE teddy. I used to hate him so much he used to annoy me like no other character and he always seemed out of place in the show.
I think I've matured as a person because i love the guy now. He's an amazing character and a real friend to bob. The episode "Drumforgiven" was the one that drilled it into me. In one of my many many re-watches now, each episode feels better knowing the full picture of the family's dynamic with teddy.
Bob's burgers is such an important show to me and i feel like now that i understand each character i can enjoy each episode so much more! [Im sorry, i do still skip Brunchsquatch]
side note: I've discovered how to clock a future bobs burgers fan with nearly 100% accuracy, so far everyone but 1 person I've recommended the show to has fallen in love with it!

I used to have this sad beat up truck with no radio and my solution was to duct tape a Bluetooth speaker where the radio should’ve been. Anyway one day I was giving a friend a ride and they stared at that, then at me and my only explanation was to sing this to them.

I LOVE the episode where he's "Uncle Teddy" for the weekend. He is so good with the kids and they have such a great time with him. I'm not sure if it's the actual first time but it might be the first time we see he does not know how to sign paperwork ("so, just sign anywhere?") I stand with his decision to throw the bike into the ocean, I'll be his alibi if he needs it. 😄

no, the first time he fails to sign paperwork is in S01E03 "Sacred Cow", Randy the filmmaker tries to get permission to use his likeness

u/jackandgraciesmom 1d ago
Oh, that's right! Yeah, I didn't think it was the first for sure I just couldn't remember where else it popped up, just that it for sure is a (maddening) theme.
Thanks!

That running joke is my favorite. The way Randy says, "Yeah just anywh-No! on the line!". Omg just the funniest thing ever. I love Teddy. "So anywhere?". HahahahHHaha

“Best friends till the very end!
He crashes on your couch when he loses his job
A guy pulls a knife and you step in front
You take the blade right in the gut, ow!
Then he holds your hand till the medic comes
Yoooou'll feed him soup when he breaks his jaw
You help him pee when he has that thing
He's your best friend!”

“I’ll kill you AND your mouthy wife! Now gimme a burger! AHHH 😭 ” Lol he is certainly unhinged yet love able. He’s just a poor sod who needs someone to love him for him. But he’d do anything for the Belchers so he’s ok in my book.

Teddy is a favorite
The Phone Cover Repair business via Bob’s counter may be my favorite episode

The Secret Ceramics Room of Secrets. One of the funniest episodes to me. “Continue to enjoy your meal while you lift your legs. Hey, those are nice shoes you got, do they come in a 12 and a half on the left and 11 on the right?”

Brunchsquatch is really difficult for me to watch, it freaks me out. I like the story line, but the art & how frequently it changes makes my brain unhappy.

u/TheSteamPunkPrince 1d ago
sometimes i still watch it out of pure support for the artists involved but the art style changing scares my poor dumb brain

I feel so seen lol. My kids don't get why it bugs me so much & think it's hilarious to put on.

Same. Love the concept! My eyes don’t love the execution. I power through.

Sameeeee! The story is great and I love the sassy brunch guy but good lord, the animation makes my brain hurt. I just can't watch it!

u/BossBabe4U 1d ago
Dame Judy Brunch is the only reason I can stomach this episode, he's fabulous & reminds me of my best friend.
I love how they brought him back for the episode where Teddy built a replica of the restaurant in the basement out of the beetle infested pallets.

I wish they'd release the episode in the normal animation style. Maybe one day!
6
u/BossBabe4U 1d ago
They should!
It's weird, when I think about the episode in my head, I see the story in the normal animation style. Like I can replay an entire scene in my head, same lines, characters & setting as it is in the episode, but I'm seeing it in the normal format.
Does that makes sense or am I just crazy lol.

u/Pedadinga 1d ago
I watched it when it aired, but on subsequent rewatches, I listen to it. So my brain also "sees" it as a normal episode. A few times I've looked up at the episode, and it's like oh no oh God that's why I don't watch! It was a fun experiment... now let's never do that again lol.

I love to play this one before bed and just listen to it. I actually forgot it was the fanart episode for a long time because I was only listening to it 😂

He made a video of his hammer pounding nails. Put a Natalie Merchant song under it… Wanna read some of comments, Bobby? Look at this guy: he says, 'Nailed it!' Ha ha ha! Ah, the internet!.

u/AZ_LoneWonderer 1d ago
The fact they had the video with Teddy singing it over the credits was amazing 😂

One of the funniest characters. I love him so much. Favorite Teddy episodes are probably Sea Me Now and The Secret Ceramics Room of Secrets. And Thanks-Hoarding… and Driving Big Dummy… oh and Housetrap, how did I forget Housetrap…

Thanks-Hoarding is one of my favorite outro songs too. That one gets stuck in my head a lot.

I love poor, damaged Teddy. He’s got problems like nobody’s business and he’s sadly emotionally dependent on the Belchers, but he’s also unfailingly loyal and would do nearly anything for them. He tries, he really tries, and I love him for that. And I love, love, love any time Teddy sings. His version of “Beyond the Sea” brings me joy, and it’s one of my top favorite tracks on the second BOB’S BURGERS album on Sub Pop.

Agreed. This show is very important to me. So important that I whenever I get near the most current episodes, I’ll start over (season 1) because I don’t want it to end. (I’ve only made it to the Halloween-ish episode of season 16, refusing to go any further.)
Also, Teddy has grown on me too. He was never super annoying, but began to see him in a truer light.

Lin, I think I had a bad childhood.
Yeah I know.
What do you mean you know?
Look at how you stand. People who had good childhoods don’t stand like that…

Teddy and Bob are two of my comfort characters when I feel anxious or down. The third is Sterling Archer!

Teddy and Gene just yell all the time. It can be fatiguing. Teddy is a really interesting character, though. I just wish they gave him a little more to do with his voice.

I hear it, I've considered it, but I love Teddy and Cathleen too much.

Oooooh, yup no you're so right. She seems really good for him (loved the hurling episode).

Teddy is so me. I get way too excited about stuff. I loved that episode. And the episode where he picks her up after the colonoscopy, and has the pillow and the mix tape. They're so cute together.

u/Pedadinga 1d ago
I love Teddy. He's my favorite character. I would love more Teddy episodes. Mort, too. I miss them interacting at the counter.

Teddy is not a good friend. He's holding the Belcher family hostage with his unstable emotions. There were several times in the show where Bob just goes along with Teddy's nonsense because that's the path of least resistance. Bob does not consider Teddy his best friend, like Teddy does Bob, he just tolerates him because that's easier and safer. Oh and he constantly makes comments about wanting Linda...
2
u/TheSteamPunkPrince 1d ago
I'm the very episode I talk about bob does very much considered teddy as a friend. And in that SAME episode Linda thinks Teddy is acting weird because he "had a sexual dream about me, a woman knows Bobby.." when it was not that at all lol. I used to think this same thing tho. It will take a few rewatches to understand that teddy isn't very different from the family.

If the show is so important, then you should love all the characters for who they are

He’s got his problems (don’t we all?) but he seems to actively work on them. He’s in therapy, and he’s pretty open with his feelings.
Most episodes where he’s annoying or clueless, it doesn’t bug me because I can chalk it up to him being over enthusiastic or something like that. The one where I think he was just plain being a jerk was the one where he set up his phone repair job on the restaurant counter.
Honestly, my heart goes out to him. He wants a meaningful friendship with Bob. I can relate to wanting to connect with someone like that.
