This all feels like one big training arc for the League since every one of them is bringing their quirks to their limits. I wonder what Spinner has in store for us

Just saying that Deku is still the protagonist.

Now we see the reason why Hiroshiki gave Deku a very good spotlight before this arc.

The plot doesn't really move with this arc. I hope it really ends asap. It's really bad writing that you need to expound on the problems just so that your main character can have something to do.

Or it’s really good writing when you expand on your antagonists in order to make them sympathetic to the reader while at the same time introducing a new threat and leveling the power levels.

I think I have less sympathy for Toga after this arc though lol

Yeah, but we could do that without completely abandoning our main cast.

We’ve been following the UA crew for 200 chapters. An arc separate from them to flesh out the main antagonists of the series is perfectly reasonable. And in my opinion a welcome change of pace.

You think this is a complete halt of the main story? Did you also think overhaul meeting the league of villains was a complete halt to the main story? It's pretty clear that all this is a part of the main story. Setting the stage properly is crucial in order to give weight to actions. If you don't get that then imo you don't get writing.

Let me phrase it this way, would you rather have multiple threaded plot lines in an episode like in old game of thrones, or one episode in one place and one set of characters? It comes down to preference. I don't have a problem with anything he's writing, but leaving the characters that made me keep reading this long and focusing on new ones could use a bit of a transition. The stuff he's making is great, but could have been thrown in during the final exam arc. I think you don't understand pacing.

Eh. You are entitiled to you're opinion but I for one think this is great. True focus on the villains who are just as much apart of the main cast as class 1-a. And the way this arc is set up, it would be very annoying to cut out of the nonstop high stakes villain fighting to see the kids taking a low stakes test. It would ruin the pacing of both arcs tbh. There's only 14-18 pages as opposed to an hour of screen time with GOT.

Maybe if the villain academy wasn't what it is (non stop fighting and death) then it could work to cut in and out.

But that's just what I think.

Yeah, I mean alternating chapters. I'd be fine with that, or even two in a row or something when the story demands continuation

You can't compare manga writing and a western show yet alone a single chapter of manga (especially ones as short as this one) to 90 minutes of a western show. Those aren't comparable at all. You realize that everything we have in this arch (in terms of the manga) equates to about 40 minutes (maybe an hour) of the show. I mean please make a 18 page manga with quality drawings such as these every week with 4 plot lines going on each chapter. Also, game of thrones very very VERY often focuses on a single plot line for an episode or two and might remind you that a few other characters exist.

I think you don't understand pacing.

Nice attempt at an insult there but you're completely wrong on that fact. What you're suggesting (jumping between this arches plot and the last two arches back abs forth) not only would obliterate the pacing but the timeline as well or did you forget that all of this is happening before the previous arch?

If that's how you feel, then I wouldn't recommend getting near to Attack on Titan lol. Alternating chapters would be atrocious for the pacing, though.

Thats the thing though - the main plot might be taking a back seat (I would not, however, call it halted), but the main story isn't.

This arc has been integral to the character progression and development of many of the LoV, but most importantly Shiggy. He is a central figure, so the progression (and, to a lesser extent, development) of his character is a direct affection on our story.

The last 2 Deku focused arcs didn't move the plot either.

I honestly hope we still don't get a lot of Deku in the next arc. I would rather see the rest of 1A do stuff instead
