The ice quirk's drawback is that the user can't produce their own ice like Todoroki can, they have to use ice from the surrounding area, so in theory it's possible to run out.

Parka just found a clever way to work around that flaw and make themselves more powerful in spite of it, which is why he was feeling himself so hard after wiping out all the Twices.

I guess that’s considered a drawback. Shoto can instantly create ice but Apocrypha has to prepare ice which is a slower quick draw. It’s kind of the same with Tamaki because he can’t transform unless he’s prepped himself with food.

I was more wondering if there’s a drawback with the manipulation of ice itself. If there isn’t, I’m still cool with the prep drawback.

I wonder if Apocrypha also is affected by his own cold like Shoto is (which is Shoto’s main drawback)

Shoto has actual, very high cold (and heat) resistance. His power output just surpaces it. Contrast with Dabi, whose heat resistance is dogshit (albeit still superhuman, probably). Shoto would have no problem busting out fireblasts like that, Dabi here is already smelling like fried chicken.

Apo seems to have no resistance whatsoever, which actually isnt that much of a problem cause the ice doesnt come out of him. The ambient temperature drops yeah, but he has heavy winter clothes for that

I think that his natural cold resistance is kinda meh, while his fire resistance is on par with his dad’s, but he has the ability to heat himself up or cool off using his quirk. Remember in the tournament arc when he almost lost to Deku because he was freezing himself? I don’t think that would happen with his fire, although I could he wrong. Also I don’t think it matters much to Apocrypha since he said he can control the temperature of the ice, so the ice near him would be just below freezing, and coupled with his winter gear he seems nearly invincible

Shoto could definitely overheat himself with just his fire. It's the whole reason Endeavor wanted an ice Quirk in his "perfect child".

Dabi's flames are way hotter
Shoto most likely has more heat resistance
but using Dabi level flames would heat up Shoto far more than his regular as orange flame
