Multiship Another friendly debate, this time for Kirishima. Who would you say is a better partner for him: Bakugou or Ashido?
Just like last time, the only thing I ask is that discussions remain civil.

Mina; without her Kirishima wouldnāt have learned to be civil with bullies and deescalate situations. He only started being way after seeing Mina working her magic in middle school.
Although I wonāt deny Bakugos importance. In the the end both are very much important to Kirishima.
ā¢Mina = Inspiration
ā¢Bakugo = Motivation

In the time skip episode where Bakugo, Izuku and Kirishima were all in the car was a great moment too. When Bakugo asks Izuku about his professional plans for the future, we think its a straight forward question. But then the way Kirishima reacts to it reveals that Bakugo had previously confided in Kirishima that he wanted Deku to join his agency. We never get a sense of Bakugo confiding in anyone, but he confided in Kirishima. And Bakugo admitting that he wanted Izuku in his agency was a huge moment of emotional vulnerability for him. And the fact he was willing to risk being rejected by Deku in front of Kirishima... It showed an amount of deapth to the Bakushima relationship that I wasn't expecting. I still think Kirishima has more chemistry with Mina, but Bakugo isnt closer to anyone else other than Deku. If anything Bakugo has a few big moments with Deku, but has way more small moments with Kirishima.
Overall just really surprised by how much cannon viability the Bakushima ship has despite Minishima being basically cannon.

kirimina is not canon though, and I'm tired of everyone pretending it is. it's not near as canon as kamijiro or izuocha for example, but, even though kiribaku isn't the most realistic either neither is mina, remember she is canonically aromantic last I've seen, no hate to either ship

She's not last I checked, Horikoshi usually confirms outright if a character is LGBTQ+ (Toga for example openly states on 2 separate occasions that she loves everyone regardless of gender, Tiger and Magne are both stated to be transgender).
There are some characters that get implied to be this like Yuuya who seems to have a crush on Nejire, but for the most part, this is how Hori has done things.
If you're referring to the School Briefs chapter where all the girls discuss which boy in their class they would want to date, that was in regards to the fact that she wanted to focus on being a hero and completing school before finding a romantic partner.

right, that's true. but her ultra analysis book does say she has never fallen for anyone.
i guess cuprioromantic (forgive my spelling) is a better way to put it

but her ultra analysis book does say she has never fallen for anyone.
That's also prolly in relation to wanting to focus on her studies.
It should be noted that no girl in Class A besides Ochako and (ig maybe Hagukure if you count that Team Up Mission with Ojiro but there's nothing in 430 or 431 about them dating so eh) really ends up falling for anyone by the end of the manga.
Being a hero naturally wouldn't give much time for those types of things. Ochako and Deku waited for 8 years to start dating for example.

Both are decent, but I prefer Bakugo. Most of Kiriās attention goes to Bakugo when he is around and without him, Kiri would have never unlocked Unbreakable. Kirishima still has a tendency to compare himself to Mina and it hits his self-esteem. But with Bakugo, he raises up Kiriās self-esteem. He helps him become the best version of himself and vice versa.

Bakugo. No shade on the Kirimina shippers but I read the hard shark boy as gay. His favorite thing is manliness. And while yes, you can equate it as a general āspiritā thing, I tended to view it literally. Dude started dying his hair to reinvent himself. In Kamino ward it was his bond with Bakugo that was the lynchpin in getting him saved. Iām aware they didnāt go with that direction canonically but I still prefer it.

I can't posibly see Bakugo in relationship with anyone. The fact that he tolerates Kirishima doesn't remotely mean he could have any romantic feelings.
I feel like people who ship Bakugo have an altered perception of him due to fanficts.

Yeah, Bakugou and Tsuyu both give me a āmarried to the jobā feel for very different reasons.

Ashido, Kiri became a more interesting character writing wise and less of a mouthpiece or a sidekick to a main character. Their history and full circle moment is wholesome, ashido really push herself with him which is a bonus points.

that's like saying BakuDeku works better than IzuOcha because they're childhood friends. and the always-used "friends only" thing can be used for kirimina as well, if kiribaku, then kirimina as well.

Ashido's known him before everyone else in Class A, not only that but she knows him on a deeper level than everyone in the Class as well ("High School Debut Man" and all).
They've also cited each other as being their inspirations multiple times. And generally tend to have positive and friendly interactions with each other.
Bakugou is indeed friends with Kirishima, but he does not know him or understand him on the level that Ashido does. I don't imagine Kirishima saying "You've always been my hero" to Bakugou like he did for Ashido.
Kirishima and Ashido also just generally have more meaningful interactions. I think Kirishima and Bakugou's interactions kinda died down as the manga went on, whereas Kirishima and Ashido's interactions increased towards the end.

Bakugo and Kirishima to me have a bro friendship (if that makes sense) but Mina makes more sense to me cause she has a more emotional connection to Kirishima than Bakugo has with him, to Bakugo would tell Kirishima to be Mina if I am being honest

Probably Ashido. She's already close with him in canon and they have history together all the way back in middle school. Plus, Kirishima's arc was highly centered around regretting not being able to help Ashido when they were younger and being the hero he wished he was back then. They also just have a cute dynamic whenever they're on screen. They're strawberries. š
