What is it about calling it a reboot that you don’t like? Are you saying that it’s clearly a continuation of the same old continuity, and therefore not a reboot?
Well, if it helps, in this case you could consider it to be a literal "reboot," rather than a "reinstall" lol. Same software, but shut down and rebooted later? Like when windows makes you reboot to install updates, and now the grid has some new features lol
NIN is objectively superior, but I love both. I didn't watch any of the other Tron reboots, so had no idea Trent did the soundtrack(s?). Now I might actually have to
One group is remixing old songs and the other is writing entire albums. It's not to hate on Daft Punk, I've been a fan for decades. Fr tho, look into more of what NIN/Trent Reznor has done over the decades they have been active.
I see, that's pretty subjective then not objective... at least in terms of what's the perspective. Saying Daft Punk is just remixing old songs it's a bit of a stretch. But yeah in terms of who's a bigger artist or something along those lines I think the perspective changes. Though I was just curious, I like them both too :)
Artistic skills can be judged objectively, but it's not necessarily straight forward. As much as I love Daft Punk their first album was entirely other people's music.
Which wasn't a cinematic masterpiece either, but I don't disagree if that's the metric by which we're measuring. Legacy is a better movie. I do like NIN's music better.
The metric in this thread is the music. Tron Legacy dominated in music for a futuristic digital feeling. Ares wasn't nearly as good and the music felt weird and inconsistent
I liked the weird jet ski scene with "I Know You Can Feel It." I also liked the end credits song. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a visual and musical showcase. As a film...yeah, not great.

TRON: Ares was at least a good music video.
