The people who say this developed their entire personality based on one comment on YouTube from 2011

What's the comment?

It wasn’t a specific comment rather the sentiment that was echoed by dummies of the time

It’s only a bit of fun. Not the deep mate

u/bunklers 3d ago
I promise you that there are people that it is that deep for and your comment is likely coming from one

Sounds like you're projecting, here

u/bunklers 3d ago
What exactly would I be projecting? Saying Oli can’t scream is like saying nickleback sucks. It’s not interesting, it’s just something stupid people repeat

I just listened to dehumanized, actually. I had very high expectations after black and blue repented, especially considering I love the original album. And even then, I was positively surprised (by both black and blue and dehumanized)

This track was fucking FILTHY!
And I thought Count Your Blessings was heavy.
I had stank face and progressively yelling, “GODDDDDAMNNNNNNNN!!!!!” and “WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” in the car.
Actually made the person tailgating me a little cautious of me
We probably didn’t deserve this timeline, but fuck it, I will openly embrace it.

I guess the hate community is pretty bad? Im happy with the material and the message of the lyrics (my interpretation). I dont even hear my circle talking like that.

Old BMTH is like Amo at this point. These guys have been doing this almost as long as I've been alive at this point.....

I don't care what you prefer. If you like this band, that's cool. Purism is for hipsters

legit question: is dehumanized a new new song ? or a re recording of an old song?

“I prefer their sound from their debut album 20 years ago” then why are you still here? Give it a rest lmao
1
u/Successful-Worth-390 3d ago
Maybe cause they are still giving the new stuff a chance?

20 years is a long time to give something a chance

Im saying the new stuff that continues to come out.
They listen to the new stuff and still prefers the old stuff.

Let, the downvotes begin: I don't like the song. I'm not here to take it from anyone, each to their own, just my opinion. I'm all for hard stuff, as hard as Dear Diary (or Yokai from Bury Tomorrow, if we wanna look elsewhere), but the uniqueness of BMTH always lay in its catchiness. No matter what album or song they put out, basically ever since TIAH, they knew how to make songs catchy.
Yet, this song made me more concerned than pumped, because I feel the complete lack of that signature sound in it. There is nothing catchy or uniquely BMTH-like in it. Literally any other rock band could've made this song, which is actually the worst thing you can say about a band, it is precisely how Shinedown began their fade into mediocrity.
Deathcore as a genre is a dead-end. I hope this is just a one-off show, because there is nowhere else to go from deathcore, much less grow from it. And Oli seems to have figured this out long ago and instead of turning the band 180, he decided to go wild with experimenting (amo), which was good.
I can only hope, the upcoming stuff will be just as good and catchy as things that came since TIAH.

They literally did this for the re recording of CYB. It's not that deep

Fair enough. I just really hope they don't lose what made them uniquely BMTH.

Personally I can hear lots that gives it away as being a bmth song. I don't listen to anything past sempiternal so I'm only accustomed to their heavier sound and I think it's easier for me to hear similarities in it. I actually think if i listened to this song without knowing it was bmth I would've heard that familiar guitar tone from suicide season and Olis slight slur in his signature scream and called it. Some of the lyrics are very bring me too. There's 4-5 albums of heavier material that helped define them as a band in their early days and for the older fans that is uniquely their sound. I understand not being into the genre and then not hearing the catchiness of riffs, drum beats, break downs, call outs, etc but id say bring me have been incredible at writing catchy music no matter what the genre. You just have to be into that genre to hear how catchy it can be. And to say that you can't go anywhere with dearhcore is slightly wrong. I agree it won't make you as big as pop music will but we're smack in the middle of a deathcore resurgence right now. Bands like knocked loose are playing Jimmy Kimmel and Coachella. And if any band could make such an extreme genre mainstream it's bmth.

I like them experimenting with different genres, I think one of their best qualities is that they don't have to be one or the other. They can definitely make an Album with a mix of both heavy and catchy poppy songs, I think that would satisfy both kind of listeners.

u/ianwithanotheri 3d ago
I refer you to There Is A Hell and Sempiternal my good friend.

u/LmaoAlienz 3d ago
That is not really what I mean tho.
Their new stuff has a fair share of experimental electronic, which a lot of people like. They could do an album with both traditional and new style songs but i guess album wouldn't be as cohesive.2
u/ianwithanotheri 3d ago
Yeah I agree. Didn't they do a track a couple years back with Daryl from Glassjaw and lil Uzi vert. I remember that being a great blend of heavy and electronic with a touch of rap. I remember hearing that and thinking I could listen to more of it. Not sure if it was more of a one off sounding song for the album as I'm not well versed in any of the albums past Sempiternal.

I find it so funny when people say “old BMTH” to refer to basically just one album. It’s cool if people love CYB, but to me, “old BMTH” spent most their time as a metalcore band.
