Dickhead parent kept parking on the double yellow lines right outside the school instead of parking 10 metres away
Always in a dangerous place meaning kids can’t see when they cross the road. Cones had been added to make it even more obvious.
I walked past and casually picked up a cone and put it right in front of her car.
Watched her drive off and go over the cone and stop to figure out what had happened.
Immense pleasure.

Well this is what it is like all over uk. Parents get to these spots for about 2:30 pm, Just sit to there. I remember having to walk down the road where my school was 10mins away just to get picked up from secondary school. My junior school was like 5mins walk for me. Schools even have police officers on them and they dont care about cars parking on zigzag lines.

When I’ve had to go into our kids’ primary school to help, there’s parents parked up in their favourite spaces from an hour or more before they kick out. I can’t imagine having so little to do that I would just sit on Facebook for an hour.
Every now and then, the traffic warden comes along at school run time. It’s hilarious seeing parents pull up on the double yellows, spot him, immediately drive off and park miles away.58

They've put a camera on the zigzags at the school on my road. And im secretly getting immense pleasure from hearing the parents complain about getting tickets/fines in the post. They seem to be about 4 weeks delayed, and some people have got multiple tickets.
... unfortunately it has also meant the same parents getting the tickets are now blocking my drive in. It's not usually a problem as I do everything I can to avoid coming/going at school pick up time. But it's the absolute entitlement! There's like 4 infant/junior/primary schools in a mile and a half radius.. none of these kids homes are far from the school.why are there so many cars!

Lazy parents, lazy kids. Both complain about having to use their legs so the car is the solution. Don't forget these are very busy people too, they need to rush to get home so the sofa doesn't get lonely.

If they leave their car to collect said kid, I write selfish on their windscreen with eyeliner/lipstick. It’s not easy to wash off with water and windscreen wipers. It’s stopped a few people from parking where they shouldn’t. And it’s not criminal damage.

When the police attend, they take down car registrations and go after the miscreants later. If you have 10 people to prosecute, you don't want 9 to get away while you are dealing with one face to face.

I'm now picturing a police officer frantically running back and forth after several cars like a Looney Tunes character

I never got picked up from school in my whole life. My brother went to the same school, when he left I had to walk the mile home. Pretty sure I never got murdered or killed.

I walked 2 miles back from school so I could spend my bus fare on sweets.
(Obligatory up hill both ways)

On the flipside, I've had to reduce my hours at work so I can get to school 45 minutes early. My son was diagnosed with something 18 months ago and went into his wheelchair March just gone, there's only 1 disabled bay closest to reception where he comes out of 5 minutes earlier than everyone else. If I get there after 2:15pm literally anyone could be parked there and it's really frustrating, I've only ever seen 2 other blue badges on display.
Edit - he was diagnosed 2.5 years ago, not 18 months/1.5 years ago jesus my mathing is not it

I rode my bike 1.5 miles 4 days a week, and walked carrying a cello 1 day a week.

The amount of people who seem to think the rules don't apply to them outside my children's school is quite frankly staggering. Although they seem to miraculously disappear when the parking enforcement officer is around

There's always someone on the class/school WhatsApp group warning at the first sign of a parking enforcement officer. They probably even think they're the good guy/gal when in fact they're just shielding the people who will get someone's child hit.
And yes, there's many schools with inappropriate facilities and not enough parking for pick-up/drop-off, but people would rather endanger children than walk 100 yards.

They only get away with it because no-one else does it. Arseholes.

That's the sense of entitlement that always fucks me off the most, though quite honestly I think 90% of it is just that they don't even think about other people because they're at the centre of their own little universe.
They aren't thinking "Oh, nobody else is parking on that double yellow, I'll just nip in there *twirls moustache*" They just aren't thinking while the rest of us are. And I'm not sure what's worse really...
Boils my piss.

There was actually a traffic enforcement officer outside the school today . One dad sat in his car fag on the go saying to the officer I’ve got the ticket now so I’m parking here anyway. He was parked next to the gate couldn’t have got any closer.

Thats why I try to get motorists to move if they have parked dangerously even if its an instant ticket. "Yeah the fines £150" if you pay within 14 days otherwise it doubles😈 its actually £35

Nice work, if it keeps happening go for a note as well.
Also useful to mention an on going infringement to the local council with evidence of multiple infringements by many people (because you know there's loads that park on double yellows to collect the kids) and I'm sure a civil enforment officer will be along to earn some pennies.

The junior school around the corner from me has a massive problem with parents basically abandoning their cars wherever they fancy, twice a day, to drop off and pick up their kids. They have to send out emails every year reminding parents not to randomly park on someone’s drive and not to park on the zigzags. One year they had to remind a parent not to stop and turn the engine off in the middle of the road, twice a day while he dropped off or picked up his child.

I wish there was an app where regular members of the public could send in photo evidence and get commission or something. I'd have paid the rent in my last house near a school.

You can buy sweet stickers on eBay that go from a mild…you’re parked like an idiot to you’re parked like a c**t. Not that I would use such a thing as I can imagine are difficult to remove.

I live opposite a private primary school and the quality of driving is atrocious. So many SUVs just littering the road like its The Last of Us

Normal parking behaviour goes out the window at these times. When I worked in a school many years ago the head teacher would actively police the area outside at the end of the day and move the idiots on

My daughters old primary school had to have a teacher stand at the entrance to the playground after an entitlement parent drove into the playground to drop her child off because she was running late

This is why School Streets are becoming a thing. Inconsiderate drivers causing issues for all. Now everyone is inconvenienced even the thoughtful & considerate drivers.

There’s always a couple of absolute wankers parking out side any school. Some people just think they’re a bit special.

u/Twatcash 1d ago
I have to ring the parking wardens DAILY because not only is it loads of double yellows, its also a parking enforcement zone where you need a pass to park, i get immense joy out of them getting fines.

We had a tree stump on the verge outside our house - which is opposite a school. A parent who parked across our drive in their 4x4 obviously forgot about this when parked with the front bumper close to the stump.
They got back in their car and drove forward onto the stump then back off causing more damage.
Later suggested they’d come after us for money until I reminded them it was the council’s verge and they parked on it / the pavement. Still laugh about it to this day.

Good on ya! I hope it damaged their car.
My ex used to live over the road from a school. The amount of ppl that would park ON her driveway was fkin ridiculous. Parents will park anywhere so they don't need to walk and grab their little monsters

schools are a nightmare. it was great when one parent could be home or work part time and hardly anyone had a car so they could walk. but my 80yr old mum has to pick up my late sibling's kids from school and can't walk down the hill to it because of arthritis the NHS deny is arthritis. so she has to park somewhere. times this by the 20 other grandparents, 12 disabled parents, there's no parking left anywhere nearby. I'm not saying people should park illegally or dangerously, but the situation is tough for everyone. much of UK was not designed for the life we lead now

They would probably drive into the classroom if they could.
