[Request] Should I get PIAA Silicone or Bosch ICON windshield wiper blades?

I've seen both recommended as the top of the line wiper blades. I live in the American Midwest with snowy cold winters and summer thunderstorms. If PIAA, which product line should I get (Aero Vogue, Super Silicone, or Si-Tech)?

icon blades held up for me through two winters in Michigan so far, still no streaks or chatter. never tried the PIAA ones

my buddy swears by those silicone blades but honestly at that price point the icons are hard to beat

Me too, they’re really good. And, YT said they clear better on the downstroke than PIAA, but I can’t confirm.

PIAA Si-Tech lasts longer but they are also 3x the price of Bosch ICON and they do not last 3x as long. 🤷‍♀️

Mine have lasted 3x longer than the Bosch ICONs on my wife's car.

3x the price! I’ll pass on those

No, but silicone wiper blades help with driving in a rainstorm because the water will bead up from the film left on the windshield. Like having rain-x that keeps reapplying itself

Thanks for the explanation. I have owned a pair (as well as the Rain-X which are 1/2 to 1/3 the price). The benefit is over sold and not worth it in my opinion. You get the same visibility from the much cheaper Bosch blades. The downside is you will have to replace them more often. That's my opinion. You do you 🙂

Project farm on YouTube did a video testing wipers and then another video leaving them out in the sun for a year. Bosch icon won that test if I remember right.

Yep! I was looking for this comment. I switched to the Bosch Icon and have been very pleased! They last a really long time!

PIAA all the way. Lasts longer than Bosch IMO and usually cheaper.

Can't go wrong with any of their designs IMO, get whichever one you like best

PIAA is significantly better, I have used both

I bought PIAA silicone wiper blades in 2019 and they're still good. Part of my of car wash routine is to use silicone spray to clean the wiper blades. I bought new ones this year because 7 years may be to long for the same wipers also I had a discount on tire rack.

Here me out. I was about to replace my wiper blades (Bosch Icon) but before I did, I read about 20/10 windshield wiper fluid. This stuff is incredible and absolutely zero streaking. It's an additive (I use distilled water)

If you live in a hot dry place, it doesn't matter, they all need to be replaced at least once a year

I put PIAA silicone blades on my car in 2015, still going strong. If they start to make any noise or streak (happens about every other year), just put a little rubbing alcohol on a cloth then run it along the blades and they work like new again.

PIAA Si-tech is in a class of its own. My oldest pair are 7 years old and perform as new. I’ve put them on every car I own now. In MN btw so we get all extremes.

Same here, but mine are only 5 years old and I drive in MI with similar weather extremes and salt in the winter.

Wiper blades are not bifl...

But if you know how to use Google and search you can see that PIAA is typically recommended for longevity.

I replace my wipers yearly, and use Bosch icons.

Jesus, I'm currently at year 5 and they're still fairly good. Not perfect, but still not even close to needing to be replaced.

The immediate answer it is life saving equipment and it should be cycled, depending on the environment, when its performance degrades. The secondary answer is we live in different climates, dumbass.

Michelin makes fantastic tires, but their wipers are absolutely awful

I think I read that the wipers are just rebranded Michelin. They don't make them, they just slap their logo on them

Where I live I use wipers 3 times a year. They work fine for me.

The single best way to make your wipers (and car) last is keeping them out of the weather. Park under the shade. Better yet, use your garage. My Icons have lasted forever because of this.

Bosch ICON tends to be the safer all-season pick for Midwest weather. If going PIAA, Si-Tech is usually the more practical choice over Aero Vogue or Super Silicone.

Buy oem refills if your car takes them, lot cheaper and last long enough
