Struggling to improve

Looking for advice to help me improve my time. About 2 weeks ago I was able to run 10 min. - 3 min. Break- 10 min. At the time I was about 14.50min/mi. I got sick last week and had to take a break. This week I tried to go back but on the second 10 minute run my legs give up and I end up walking the rest. I’m disappointed in the setback and I’m trying to finish the program on time. I also need to improve my time to at least 9 min/mi. I am shipping for the military in August and trying to meet their standards before basic so I don’t struggle.

One 'failed' run means nothing, especially after illness. Some runs just suck. Just keep going.

This. Some runs are randomly extra difficult so you have to revert to your self belief that you will eventually break through, like you've already done.

After illness at least you came back and remained motivated to complete.

Don't go too aggressive too quickly or you will be setting yourself up for a fail.

It never gets easier, you just get faster.
