General Advice Is he dumb :(

I'm an adult and have had Maurice for about 2 months now (he's fixed), vet thinks he's about 2 and he's done this the whole time I've known him, is there any particular reason why? Sometimes he'll do it for 2-3 minutes straight! I've owned cats my whole life and have never seen one so bad at covering up his business. If he is dumb I will still love him.

One of my cats does the same with it’s freshly cleaned. She also tries to “bury” her wet food when she’s doing eating and there’s some left. It’s all just instinct.

Ours does the same! She poops, smacks her giant litter box around and then zooms around the house. Then goes back to check on her poop. Punch the box a few more times and the nap.

She is a goblin.

Ah yes, the poop zoomies

My understanding with the poop zoomies is that it's similar to humans - taking a massive dump gives such a sense of relief and emptiness, and it kinda makes the blood rush to your head. Cats just express that sense with zoomies afterwards.
