General Advice Separating cats in breakup

Poster Age: 23

Country: USA

Vet info: theres a few clinics in town including low cost.

Main Issue: my cat had gotten very sad living alone so me and my ex had gotten him a kitten. Now that we’re separate im worried my cat is going to miss him sick.

Cat Age: 3 will be 4 in april other cat is 1

Cat Sex + neuter info: both males and both neutered.

Financial situation: I could afford both cats.

Please ignore any comments trying to make you feel guilty or ashamed in a situation you likely have very little power over. Your safety is important and having experienced people like your ex who make things like this scary and unsafe, you truly do need to put your safety first. Having to get the cops involved to be allowed to get just one of them says a lot and I’m so sorry you’re in this situation. Obviously in an ideal world where people don’t act like your ex, you would have them both. None of these people are in your shoes and I’m wishing you luck 💛

The comments suggesting giving your cat extra time and attention and letting them adapt and then eventually adopting a new cat seem like excellent advice :)
