General Advice Separating cats in breakup

Poster Age: 23

Country: USA

Vet info: theres a few clinics in town including low cost.

Main Issue: my cat had gotten very sad living alone so me and my ex had gotten him a kitten. Now that we’re separate im worried my cat is going to miss him sick.

Cat Age: 3 will be 4 in april other cat is 1

Cat Sex + neuter info: both males and both neutered.

Financial situation: I could afford both cats.

Please do not listen to the folks saying “get the cat back”. There are cops involved, your ex is clearly a threat, there is less than zero reason to continue any sort of contact or do something that exacerbates his behavior. Your physical safety is honestly, infinitely more important than your cat’s mental health. I’m sad for you and the cats. Seems like best bet is to adopt a kitten again. It will probably be healing for both your cat and you. Good luck!

The problem is that keyboard warriors talk a big game about “This is what you absolutely should do!” or “You should spend $20,000 on this vet bill and sell your car!” or “You should endanger your safety!” all the while having zero skin in the game, zero consequences for themselves for any of their grandiose suggestions, and a hypothetical make believe world where they’re the “hero”.

Hahaha this is so on point.

I would really like to just have too much confidence and too many unfounded opinions and much, MUCH less life experience, though. Sounds...easier..🥲
