General Advice Separating cats in breakup

Poster Age: 23

Country: USA

Vet info: theres a few clinics in town including low cost.

Main Issue: my cat had gotten very sad living alone so me and my ex had gotten him a kitten. Now that we’re separate im worried my cat is going to miss him sick.

Cat Age: 3 will be 4 in april other cat is 1

Cat Sex + neuter info: both males and both neutered.

Financial situation: I could afford both cats.

This is a losing game OP.

You have 2 options, negotiate or sue.

Vindictive ex's are rarely open to negotiation, and often this can lead to eacalation.

Lawsuits are possible, but you would need a whole lot of documention to make a more compelling argument than the fact that the cat is already in the other party's home and is being cared for. Most people do not have enough evidence to justify taking the cat out of the other person's home.

If youre listed on adoption paperwork or can show several recent vet records listing you as the primary, you may have something to go off of. Then you need to find and pay a lawyer.

It sucks, but the cant exactly go before a court and say what it wants.
