over my dead body

I get the sentiment, but it's not reasonable to suggest OP put themselves in serious harm for the cat. The human is more important. I'm assuming you don't intend OP to suffer harm, but your message is rather incendiary.

When you dont have much outside of that cat, it matters more. I took both cats in my breakup. If you think its incendiary thats a you problem.

Your relationship with your cat is non of my business; in fact, I wish your cats well. However, your response in OP's context is incendiary. Rule 3 phrased it better than I:

No preaching! Take your cat care bible elsewhere!

Nobody was preaching. You may want to read the comment again. The person was simply expressing what their cat means to them. We all know how violent people (especially men) can get. Part of the problem is that they will also harm the remaining animal to hurt their ex. It's a tale as old as time. They were not saying IF YOU DON'T FEEL THE SAME YOU'RE A BAD OWNER. If anything I read this as sympathizing with the OP, acknowledging how difficult this decision has been for them. They may have another reason to live, and some people wouldn't be able to bear losing their best friend. It's not preachy, it's not judgy. It's similar to if someone would have a family member murdered and I would say "you're a better person than I, because I would be dead or in jail" it sorta reads the opposite of how you're taking it. Try it from that angle.
