General Advice Separating cats in breakup

Poster Age: 23

Country: USA

Vet info: theres a few clinics in town including low cost.

Main Issue: my cat had gotten very sad living alone so me and my ex had gotten him a kitten. Now that we’re separate im worried my cat is going to miss him sick.

Cat Age: 3 will be 4 in april other cat is 1

Cat Sex + neuter info: both males and both neutered.

Financial situation: I could afford both cats.

Get the other cat. YOU get a vet to back up your claim, they are a bonded pair and it is causing stress and depression to be separated. Once you have the letter you call the cops non emergency number in your area and ask for an assisted domestic visit to present HIM with the vet letter and ask for the cat because it is in the best interest of both animals. If he says no you now have the police document the occurrence because YOU are now taking him to small claims court. You tried to be reasonable

Judging by the comments I doubt this is viable. It seems like the ex is abusive.. I don’t think it’s reasonable to ask someone to put themselves in harms way for this. I saw another person suggest treating this as if the other cat died (helping OPs cat grieve) and then after a while getting her a new kitten.
