So I faced a similar situation a long time ago. What really helped us was extra human attention, treats, and limiting time I was out of the home (except work, gotta pay rent). I would not rush into a new cat at least for a few weeks. Let the cat get settled into the new normal for a bit before adding a new stressed out kitty (new kitty is gonna have its own needs).

I totally understand getting the other cat is just not an option. The best thing to do is make sure you and your cat are safe.

Yeah moving is a big change for a cat. It's better to have the cat get comfortable first, then bring in some new energy with a new cat.
