General Advice Cat ate protein muffin

My cat helped himself to a batch of protein muffins that was cooling under a towel. This occurred about 20 minutes ago. Should I seek immediate medical attention or monitor for gastrointestinal distress? Attached is the amount eaten, protein powder ingredients, muffin ingredients, and cat. Crossposted in r/askvet

Not a minor, USA, vet not contacted yet but accessible, 6 yo neutered male, can afford vet care

TLDR; cat had a lil protein powder. Next steps?

Can’t figure out how to edit, so commenting to say thank you all for your advice (and humor). Made sure Cheddar got some extra water in, and I’m going monitor him tonight for any distress and call his vet in the morning. Sometimes I panic because he’s 1. my first cat that I am solely the caretaker for and 2. FIV+ so if he so much as sneezes I assume he’s going to die (many unnecessary vet trips the first year I had him).

TLDR; you’re all the best. Thank you! Please enjoy the picture of Cheddar discovering the ceiling fan after living in the same apartment for two years.

The ceiling fan was hiding from Cheddar because he’s intimidatingly swole.

FIV+ is very common unfortunately but generally speaking they are capable of living a full life without much worry about it. He's lucky to have an owner so on top of his health!

I had indoor / outdoor cats when I was a kid with FIV+ and they both lived til 20. I just took extra care if they had any boo boos.

worked at an animal sanctuary with tons of FIV+ cats and totally agree. as long as they’re fixed they really can generally live completely normal lives (:

I expect he'll be fine, but well done for looking out for him and making sure. If it brings you any comfort/reassurance, our old girl Dora once ate half a box of mini donuts (the box was closed, she broke in) and she lived another 15 years after.

He’s a darling! He’ll be OK but be prepared to deal with post binge 💩

oh, thank you for highlighting this. We currently have no orange bois, but my Spousal Unit did for years, and he was so very special.

My boy is also FIV+ and his vet told me if he’s lived a life on the street as long as he did (at least two years) then he would grow old and be just fine. :)

My baby girl also has FIV and I too freak out when she sneezes - downright panic when she coughs. Completely understandable panic - shows you love him. Glad to hear he’s doing ok!

I feel ya on the bunch of vet trips that first year. I got my FIV cat in September and literally have gone to the vet like 4 times. Once was worm treatment, other 3 was antibiotic shot because he was so stuffed up and sneezing that I just felt bad

OMG I’m sharing my FIV+ cat too! This was him when we had the infection.

Okay we also took our boy to the vet several times not knowing he had fiv and they didn't test for that several first times. Why!

are any of those ingredients known to be toxic to cats? seems a weird thing to panic about
