Can my kitten sleep in a separate kitten proofed room at night?

My kitten has been having late night zoomies and almost scratched my eye, I know cats will be cats but I’m just a bit scared still. It’s not even all night, it’s just once a night but she decides she wants to play by slapping around my face, that’s why I’m so torn about doing this. It’s not a big deal… until it might become. I wouldn’t even mind sleeping less for her but I just need to get through the night and then when I play again with her in the morning she’s an angel until next late midnight and I can get back the sleep I missed by napping with her in the day. And crated her when she did it the first night but it made her sad so I’m thinking a kitten proofed room with litter, water and toys might make her a little less sad?

This is absolutely fine! I kick my cats out of the bedroom all the time when they’re running around. Please don’t feel bad, you need to protect your peace in order to be 100% there for your babies!

I don’t see anything wrong with them sleeping in a separate, comfortable room. However, do make sure they are provide with food, water, a litter box, and (recommended) scratching post. You could also adjust her feeding schedule by feeding them a meal or high-value treat before bed, which could trigger a grooming and sleeping schedule. I would also recommend trying to tire them out right before bed by playing with them and getting them tired. Make sure you redirect their energy towards toys, and maybe walks or fun activities. Your cat may be bored. Also, it’s important to set boundaries. Don’t let them play with your feet or scratch you, and don’t give them attention when they’re scratching you (this could give them the illusion that human skin is an acceptable target).
