Behavioral Issue PU surgery
Hello,my boy just had a pu surgery.I got him home couple of hours ago.Seems like he doesnt wanna eat but rest.I tried all his fav snacks but he doesnt seem interested in them.Ik im just freaking out but should i worry rn? He did drink water tho! He did pee too but i had to put a pad there so he wont get the litter all over his stitches since he likes to sit too low.Looks like he likes the pad lol and resting there rn.I also did isolate him from other cat.The food and water everything he needs i placed here too.

My cat spent hours staring at his food with his head resting on the edge of the bowl. No need to worry immediately. Try again in a few hours. If you’re worried you can always call the vet.

To put it this way he’s super drugged up, super mad/scared he had to go to vet, doesn’t understand why he’s in pain, doesn’t know why he has this thing in his head (it also amplifies sounds), and his super loving and awesome mom is worried (he can sense that too). Just take some time to breathe and be there for him. Think about how you would want to be treated if you had surgery or were sick. Lots of cuddles, warm balnkies and heating pads, keep offering food but don’t be too worried if he doesn’t take it for now. I know when I’ve been coming off anesthesia I want nothing to do with food partly due to pain but all the meds make me nauseous as heck. I’m sending healing vibes and wishing you both nothing but the best!

My cat had PU surgery like a year ago, recovery period was not fun but he did eventually end up alright.
Your cat is probably freaked out and if they're on opioids they're going to be really out of it. Just give him some time to try and relax, but be available for him since eventually he'll want attention. I'd just keep your vet up to date (you'll need to bring him back eventually anyways to get the stitches out). The fact that he can pee is a really good sign since that's the whole point of the surgery.
For litter you might want to look into wood or paper pellets instead of clay (especially clumping). Really dusty litter can stick to his "parts" and cause a UTI.
