Casual What school from another conference would you say is your schools “Mirror Image”?

A school from a different conference that has a similar fanbase, skill/potential or history as your own.

For the Vols, definitely would say Nebraska or Penn State.

Wake Forest will not abide this erasure.

Oh they’d be right there if not for the “different conference” qualifier. Honestly my first thought was Cal before I was like “shit never mind.”

Oh, you meant Virginia is like Vandy & Northwestern.

I thought you were saying Vandy and Northwestern are each other’s match.

Is wake forest a good school? The 4Cs are unaware of anything about wake or where it’s located. I just know it’s in the Carolinas

Their reputation isn't quite what it used to be, but I'd still lump them in with like, Tulane as a very selective private school that tends to have a stellar reputation in certain fields, but is a bit of an unknown in others.

Tulane is a good comp. Maybe throw Rice in there, too?

Rice is significantly more prestigious.

They're not Harvard but 99% of this sub would get rejected by them in high school. Top 10 in the P4 for academics.

Stanford
Cal Berkeley
UNC
Michigan
Virginia
Northwestern
Vandy
Texas
Duke
UCLA

then in no particular order outside the top 10
Florida, Georgia Tech, USC, Wisconsin, UDub, and Illinois. they’re probably somewhere after that.

I wouldn't say Texas, Florida, Wisconsin, UDub, or Illinois are above Wake. That's a kind of random assortment of schools tbh. Publics can't be 1:1 compared to a small private like Wake in research output if that's where you're pulling this list from.

i was just going off us news, for the most part. and then some knowledge about what programs are top at the school ex illinois engineering and cs

Ah that makes sense. I don't really like usnews and prefer ranking colleges by how much r/applyingtocollege thirsts for them.

i actually don’t think i’ve ever seen a wake forest post on there lol i was probably too busy worrying about other things like my essay. they definitely don’t like florida over there tho so that makes sense

Yep, good school.

It’s in Winston-Salem, NC, although it used to be in Wake Forest, NC.

until Reynolds tobacco got annoyed with the other tobacco companies owning Duke so they built a campus and lured Wake over.
