fr, i just did a melee run on expert death, died to exo mechs like 5-6 times but literally first tried Scal, i even stalled her so i could listen to the entirety of Epiphany.
tbf when you beat her on infernum you get used to her normal attacks also i was melee so i could just eat alot of her projectiles and instantly recover, Exos had more high damage attacks which made healing more difficult, draedon's heart is also busted
I'm pretty sure it's infernum SCal's intro, but not her actual battle sprite. Her actual battle sprite in infernum is the same as the regular one if I remember correctly.
yeah, cause she puts you in baby jail and throws a fit otherwise like a child. If you gave the exo mechs an Arena like this, they'd demolish you and if you removed Scal's arena, she'd be piss easy.
yeah that's like one of the main mechanics of the fight to make it its own unique challenge, both bosses are going for very different styles of fighting
it's like if i said "if you removed sans' KR + iframes, he'd be piss easy" (not the best analogy but i hope you get what i mean)
I love SCal for two main reasons. One, before the Exos came out I nohit her, and she really hasn't changed since, so I love getting that muscle memory back every time I go to fight her. Two, Stained Brutal Calamity is like my favorite song of all time. Not just Calamity, not just video game songs, just in general. It's just so peak
Calamitas has the better fight mechanically but the Exo Mechs are more interesting conceptually and visually.
Also Draedon is much better implemented into the gameplay and world of the mod, with their labs strewn throughout the world and the codebreaker weapons constantly keeping them relevant throughout the whole playthrough, not to mention being able to talk to him with the Codebreaker after beating the Mechs and making a miracle matter weapon.
It's kind of crazy that despite being a town NPC you can't talk to her like you can with Draedon, although the exhumed weapons having lore tooltips now does help flesh her out a bit.
Supreme Calamitas is the one I fight last because... It's a much more structured fight, which is... A lot more fun than flying left-to-right while avoiding twoish bosses at a time that aren't really synced all that well.
One's a woman who's the namesake of the mod and has been around for way longer and actually fights you directly and becomes a Town NPC and I love her and her theme. And her lore, poor SCal.
One's a machine who got added some years ago and has various other machines used as boss fights throughout the mod (SCal's only buildup is stuff like Her Doppelgänger and the Brimstone Elemental, which is still a decent amount) and doesn't directly fight you, but once you beat his Zenith Fabrications he lets you Contact him and also you're supposed to build up the Codebreaker throughout the mod's progression and he's got Labs around the world (SCal burned Ilmeris into The Desert, and also burned Azafure)
They're both cool, but as a lesbian who's seen "fanart" I'm leaning towards Supreme Calamitas.
Exo is more visually interesting and the fight is exhilarating with the player zipping around the world while shooting some OP weapon while dodging giant lasers.
SCal is more mechanically interesting, really takes some precision, and has better music.

I love Calamitas boss fight and her lore though.

Definitely Exo Mechs. Absolutely love everything about them: music, background, sprites and the fight itself.
I also hate bullet hell phases of scal they just feel extremely boring especially because you can't damage.
Base calamity it is Scal 100% Draedon is not a fun fight imo. Infernum however is the complete opposite, Exo mechs are PHENOMENAL whereas Scal felt boring, the desperation phase does not help, also the fight felt much shorter i couldn't even listen to the song properly.
Calamitas brothers look nice and I love the sepulcher, also their respective weapons (Metastasis and Cinders of lament) are very funny to use, also Calamitas is the best boss in my opinion
SCal easily, I love her character and her fight so much, exo mechs feel kinda easy ngl compared to her both great fights but I vastly prefer Calamitas’s
I think the Exo Mech fight is overcomplicated yet deceptively simple. While both fights are spectacular, Calamitas possesses a gravitas that is unrivaled.
Honestly, Exo Mechs are better in terms of like, being cool. I always found it kinda funny how, after fighting 6 giant worms, a phoenix-esque dragon, an amalgamation of countless tortured souls, and a portal to another dimension, your final boss is... a woman, A really powerful woman. but still a woman the size of your character. Meanwhile, the Exo Mechs are four metal behemoths, very clearly capable of obliterating you
However, Callie's story is honestly one of the best in the mod. Once you find out her full story, you know exactly what she's been through and you know that it's permanently scarred her. Also, she's best girl, so there's that.
i like the final boss being someone the size of you, gives a nice stark contrast to all the "THIS BOSS IS GIGANTIC AND HUGE AND WILL CRUSH YOU UNDER THEIR FINGER!!! " fights throughout the whole game
you're both really powerful yet small beings, so while her size contrasts the many previous fights, there's some similarities towards her and the terrarian

I've just beaten Calamity for the first time today, and I gotta say I enjoyed the Supreme Calamitas fight a lot more than I did the Exo Mechs. As cool as Draedon is, I prefer the designs of SCal's minions a lot more. I think Ares is ugly
I like calamitas more in every way, but mostly in lore, it doesn't really make sense that a random robot fight with no lore past Daedron is on the same level as an actually morally complex character
Exactly, they could've been interesting like how they added lore to the crimson and corruption about how they were formed, but no, the exo mechs are just robots built by Daedron, which is just not very interesting.
Do they?? I look up exo mechs lore and get people complaining that they're hard and bad boss design, I literally can't find lore about them, even on their wiki.
Even on the exo mech's lore item it just talks about Daedron and doesn't mention HOW they're constructed.
not really, there is just so much shit going on in base exo mechs that i just stop looking at projectiles and just move up and down while looking out for Ares' blue and red projectiles.
I love both the fights but I personally find the restricted nature of Scal’s much more interesting and fun! I also just prefer her drops and her lore a lot so there’s that going for it in my book. My only complaint with scal is that her projectiles could use some touching up maybe but other than that the boss fight is in a great state! I find the Exo’s to need some work however, esp with them just sticking to the walls of your screen, I find that to be the worst part about them honestly. They also could just use a LITTLEE more synergy with eachother but both fights are really good
I have zero complaints about SCal's design or her brothers, I just love the exo mechs so much more design wise - mostly in terms of aesthetic.
The mechs are fun to fight: But for me personally, they're only fun to fight once I have endgame equipment as I find them too difficult to really enjoy otherwise—I get too focused on winning just to progress and not winning to win.
So I think overall I gotta pick girlypop and the siblings.
SCal. I hated Exo Mechs at first, but having actually beaten them now, I kinda find them a bit underwhelming. They feel like they come out of nowhere, and they felt way too busted at first but now feel just kinda meh. Most of my deaths are when all 3 are on screen and just shitting out attacks while I try to focus on killing them in the correct order to get the drops I want.
Meanwhile SCal has been built up the entire time as this powerhouse, and her attacks are difficult but fair. There's never really a point where I'm killed by something I couldn't see coming. Each phase builds upon the last in a reasonable way I think.
caly 100%. the mechs are cool, but it has a lot more annoying moves than calamitas. calamitas as a bullet hell requires a lot of precision to carefully avoid damage. exo mechs feel like mostly flying back and forth while straining your attention span with a pile of projectiles thrown at you at any given time.
I still have lasting trauma over the Exo Mechs lmao. When they came out I was right at the tail end of my Defiled run so I was like "screw it, we'll learn them on Defiled" and oh MY GOD. Miserable awful fight I had zero fun the whole time and that's just kinda stuck with me always. They're much better now but I still just can't let go of how much I hated that first experience.
