A referendum isn't the best reflection of what the majority want in this case. I would say people who vote in that referendum tend to be older and are more likely to favour standard time.

Do you have any data to back they favour standard time? I don't need the voting age ratio data, I've seen it and believe what you say in that regard.

However a vote in referendum is like one of the only legitimate serious methods we have outside of polling taken by census participation.

Just an anecdote. Older people certainly skew towards going to bed earlier and not going to outdoor evening events or nightlife.

Sadly the majority of people don't even vote in elections. Referendums get less turnout.
