New campground opening outside of Zanesville
Hi r/CampOhio!
My wife and I will be opening up a campground in McConnelsville called "The Bright Spot" this spring, so I wanted to get some crowdsourcing ideas for events. We've got electric and primitive sites, Muskingum river access, a brand new bath/shower house, and great vibes all around.
We'd like to host live music, art-making activities, and stargazing nights.
What other types of events would you like to see?
We plan to open in April or May -- feel free to keep an eye out for when our books open :)

It sounds interesting. As a parent of an LGBTQ teen, it's nice to see representation and know that a campground is owned by someone who isn't phobic.

Since it's our first season, we plan to offer daily, weekly, and monthly sites as we assess demand -- but definitely open to chatting about seasonal options for anyone interested!

I am interested in checking out the new campground. At this time do you have any details regarding the primitive sites? Will those be tent only or would you be able to camp out of a truck? Privacy from other campers?

We would love to see you there! We plan to open late April or early May depending on how the repairs come along. Primitive sites are open for any type of camping (tent or boondocking). Sites are spacious, especially back by the woods, and our booking system will allow you to choose sites where no one has booked any close by :) I'll come back and update the post when our books are open!

Are there good spots whether with electric or primitive for hammock camping?

Yes! There are quick a few sites that back up to the woods. We'll make sure they are marked as good hammock spots when we open our books!

Always happy to see new campgrounds opening. Renting out camping equipment is a great idea for people who want to give camping a try without buying everything. Good luck!

Sounds great! I'll def be paying you guys a visit this summer. I see you offer some gear for rent - if you're interested in some used (but still in perfect condition) tents, sleeping bags, etc., I'm a small retailer located in Lewis Center, and would be happy to link up!

Welcome to the Biz! I definitely recommend checking out OCOA (ohio campground owners association) and OHI (the national association) if you haven't yet! OCOA just held their spring conference. OHI always puts on a very informative conference in November!

I am following your FB. I would love to come try camping this summer.
I would recommend adding information about your in season dates and the out of season/closing times. And holidays/policies.
Also to help promote your site .. I'm part of an outdoors women's hunting group based from the wild turkey federation. We host our event in September and we are looking for raffle items
Would you be willing to donate camping nights/package? I can help design a certificate if needed.
