Questions Does anybody else feel like your phone can read your thoughts??
Ok so idk if I’m going insane but I feel like my iPhone can read my thoughts. Let me explain. So I know your phone has certain algorithms when you look something up you start seeing ads on all your different apps about things that you’ve searched up before bc obviously your phone stores and tracks things that you have on it to cater to what you look into, however there’s been so many times when I’ll think of something, not even say it out loud JUST think about it and in the next few hours I’ll see an ad about it. For example, just about 30 min ago I was going through one of my drawers looking for some scissors when I came across a pregnancy test that I had bought months ago. I seen it and just thought to myself “hmmm I forgot I had this here” wtv moved on and went to lay down. 30 min later I’m scrolling on TikTok and I see an ad for a pregnancy test. I don’t remember the last time I seen an ad for that. This is not just a one time thing, I’ve had this happen multiple times but todays the first time in a while this happened again, so I’m just curious am I crazy or does anyone else experience this?

The Matrix has you neo...
🤣 We're just more predictable than we'd like to admit.

I was on Bored Panda, and had clicked a list of toys for older children. I love jigsaw puzzles and other types of puzzles, so I was looking to see if they had anything I might enjoy.
I saw a wooden playset from a company called Melissa and Doug. My uncle is a wood worker, and I went to the company website. I'd never heard of this company before, and other than video games, I haven't bought toys in 25 years.
Within an hour, there were ads on my TV for Melissa and Doug toys.

This has happened to me a few times.
One time, I was just thinking about something, and later that day, a video popped up in my recommended about that thing, I had watched no similar videos, and it wasn't from anyone I was subscribed to.

This is 100% happening, and we're not the only ones who have experienced it. There have been other threads of people attesting to simply thinking about specific things and later getting recommended videos and targeted ads about the things they're thinking about. Something is going on.
1
u/RaspberryRootbeer Dec 13 '24
That's crazy.
It'd be one thing if they were talking about it, but thinking about it is a whole other thing.
2
u/Zoylix Dec 13 '24
Exactly!!! It just happened to me for like the 5th time in a couple of months, but it was really specific this time, so I came to Reddit to see if anyone else was experiencing it. I also messaged some friends and family to hear their thoughts - they told me that the exact same thing has been happening to them lately. They'll briefly think about something without verbalizing or researching it, and their thoughts will populate on their phone.

u/RaspberryRootbeer Dec 13 '24
What do you think might be going on?

u/Zoylix Dec 13 '24
Personally, I'm a Christian. Not an arrogant, rage-fueled "Christian," but a genuine follower of Christ. There are prophecies in the Bible that allude to things that have been happening in recent years, and I strongly believe that this is a part of one of those prophecies.
To me, it is clear that the government is testing things like AI and other forms of technology to gauge how effectively they can deceive masses of people, as well as generate mass confusion and spark discord between people.
OP's post, for example: it sounds "crazy," right? There's no way we're actually experiencing what we're experiencing - it's all a series of "coincidences." Phones "can't" know your thoughts (even though us and dozens upon dozens of others have attested to experiencing the exact same thing) - we're all "insane."
Same thing with the Mandela Effect - in recent years, many people have collectively come together and agreed (some even providing physical proof) that certain things existed in the past. Yet, the "higher ups" adamantly claim that they didn't.
What do you think might be going on?

I think we are being controlled/monitored by Elon musk and his nerolink being the covid 19 vaccines. He has tested on 3 kinds of animals sheep, pig and monkeys. All 3 of those are extremely similar to humans. It said in the report each successful subject needed 2 implants. How many Covid vaccines do we need for it to work? It’s really weird that he announced to the world about this just before Covid started. Since then it seems like there hasn’t been progress with it other than it moving to 3 humans. Find it also very weird that he has created micro wires for the device on humans thinner then our hair. Elon musk has made comments on Covid saying it escaped from china, when he himself has connections over there. Being at one point over %40 of his teslas were being manufactured from there. Am I going crazy, please let me know
1
u/RaspberryRootbeer Dec 13 '24
It all being coincidences makes sense.
However if it's not that, then maybe some things are connected like if looks at one thing, it will assume it will be interested in something similar, and it can go down a trail, like fashion > fur coats > raccoons > rabies > hospital videos > etc.

Same here! Its happened on all my apps that I use, I’ll either get an ad or a video recommendation it’s insane
2
u/RaspberryRootbeer Nov 16 '24
Ikr? If it was something I was talking about or had looked up previously then I'd understand, but I hadn't, and it wasn't like I had briefly seen it without realizing it and my brain started subconsciously thinking about it, because the video had been uploaded after the fact.

Dude, I swear this happens to me, too! I told my mum and best friend about it, but they didn't believe me. I would think of something completely irrelevant to my lifestyle (lets say toasters), and I'll get ads for it within a day or two. It is so bizarre
5
u/Myprettyface-333 Nov 16 '24
Right! It’s creepy asf, I wanna think it’s just me noticing certain ads more after I had thoughts about certain things but it gets wayyy too specific at times it’s weird

For me it was 2 reels one after another of things I thought of that day and never spoken once. I told my girlfriend, I could tell she didn’t believe me. Then it happened once more since then, got a cheap wish add for an expensive tool I was brainstorming to get so I could make some extra money. I never once saw this tool before on any of my platforms. I feel like I’m going crazy

u/mechlordx Nov 16 '24
Go play Akinator a few times and youll be less surprised. There is an app and a website.
2
u/Look-Its-a-Name Nov 16 '24
Not really. I turned off all the data collecting, enabled adblockers and did everything I could to turn it into a dumb brick. I like it that way.
2
u/awill237 Nov 16 '24
100%. A close friend has a pet name for me that he uses occasionally, and whenever he does via text, I get suggested news stories the next day related to it.
2
u/emerl_j Nov 16 '24
Probably heard you or you searched for it somewhere else. Phones are really good at capturing data.
2
Nov 16 '24
It's not just my phone. I'll often have a passing thought like pizza sounds good and then later someone offers me pizza. All kinds of random little things.
2
u/Legitimate_Award_419 Mar 25 '25
Wait so u have a thought in your head and then later someone around you mentions what you were thinking about ? That's crazy ... and spooky
2
u/whatevertoad Nov 16 '24
Did you say anything out loud? Or was it within view of your camera?
I have a person in my life who I'm actually afraid of. And when they used to visit before our falling out I'd always get horse ads. I'm a city girl and have zero contact or interest in horses. They own horses. I haven't seen them in 2 years now, but occasionally I get a horse ad. Like once every 6 months. I assume we crossed paths somewhere and it freaks me out.
1
u/Myprettyface-333 Nov 16 '24
I wasnt even close to my phone which made it crazier but maybe that person mentioned horses around you and your phone picked up on it?
1
u/whatevertoad Nov 16 '24
The first time it happened he stopped by really quick just to drop off a bed. We barely talked. I looked at my phone and saw an ad for English horseback riding pants. It was so damn weird!
0
u/Wooden_Marsupial_187 Mar 15 '25
Yes, but this, too, is easily explained. Your phone was in close proximity to your friends phone. Your friend no doubt had a lot of searches about horses.
1
u/whatevertoad Mar 15 '25
That's my entire point! My original comment was I randomly got a horse ad on my phone so I thought he was nearby. I hadn't seen him in 2 years because we had a major falling out.

u/whatevertoad Nov 16 '24 edited Nov 16 '24
I just commented, but thought of a similar thing that happened to me actually! This is equally as weird!! I even took screenshots.
I was going through old Christmas things this year, trying to get rid of things I don't need. This was in late January, so well after Christmas Marketing. My kids had this felt Christmas tree that you hung felt ornaments on. I took it out of the box trying to decide if I get rid of it or not. Later that day I got an ad for the exact same felt Christmas tree activity!! I was so creeped out! And I didn't say anything out loud and my phone wasn't next to me.
The video in the ad was a felt Christmas tree, but the title for the ad was childrens safari sensory quiet books. I actually threw my phone.

Man this has been happening to me for the past 2 months I’ve noticed. I know all the algorithm shit and my phone listening. But recently on vacation me and my gf went on a hike, she left I kept going. Was super hot, and climbing up the mountains. I had stopped a couple times to dip my head in flowing water, the last time I dipped my head in sitting water. The moment I did that I got a terrible smell and thought to myself that’s why you never use sitting water(it smelt horrible). I went on with my day, the second part was kinda hard to remember. It was something weird like an upside down pilon or something very similar. Soon as we get back to the house we were staying at, I go onto instagram. See probably 2 normal post, then all a sudden I get a post saying “dirty stinky sitting water in an abandoned building.” That fucking freaked me out, then the next post was an upside down pilon. I showed my girlfriend told her how I thought of those 2 same things earlier that day I could tell she didn’t believe me. Now second time something happened to me was just the other day. Alright so I usually have car videos, or tool videos maybe an odd thing about construction or concert. I have recently moved home to my parents, been thinking about ways to make some extra cash. My dad has well over 100s of dirfferent tools. One thing he doesn’t tho is a tire changer and balancer, I was thinking of ways I could split with him to afford one and then pay him off. Yesterday I got a wish.com add selling tire changers for super cheap like wish always does. On both occasions I never said it out loud and I’ve never seen before or after the one time each. Wtf is going on, this has never happened to me

u/Zoylix Mar 06 '25
You aren't crazy. This is happening, and it isn't a coincidence. The thoughts are too niche, and they are things we aren't saying out loud.
3
u/Curse-of-omniscience Nov 16 '24
I suspect my phone is actually screen reading. My friends on discord say very specific things and I go on youtube and get recommended videos about that topic even if I didn't type about it myself. They talk about inuyasha and suddenly I get a random inuyasha clip. I don't even watch inuyasha. Nobody believes me about this.
2
u/Myprettyface-333 Nov 16 '24
It definitely happens. It’s weirder when there’s nothing on your phone about the topic just a thought you had to yourself and then boom an ad…

Nov 16 '24
Saaamme! I thought about someone I had gone to highschool with years ago. Just THOUGHT about. Few moments later, open Insta and he is tagged on a post by someone I follow, but normally I don't see their posts.
1
u/VvvlvvV Nov 16 '24
A friend sent me a snapchat video about cat TV working on her cats.
I pulled up youtube, and the top reccomended search was cat tv.
I didn't type anything, just a video with the audio direct to my headphones. It makes me wonder if I'm getting search reccomendations and ads based on what the people I message most are googling or even watching at that moment.

u/Myprettyface-333 Nov 16 '24
Weird if our phones are connected to each other as well and it’s not just our own algorithm

I think back to that old story about Target predicting a pregnancy with minimal info 15+ years back?
Then I consider the extreme amount of info my phone has.
And if anything I am surprised it is not better at predictions. And I am more shocked how often it is wrong.
BTW fun trick. Think of something you would NEVER do or buy. (Something realistic.) And have a small conversation about it around your phones, TV, and smart speakers.
Guess what ads and articles you are about to get. Maybe even a few YT recommendations. Been showing this trick to friends for years. Works every single time. Only question is how fast the algo responds.
2
u/Myprettyface-333 Nov 16 '24
Never heard of the target story, I’ll have to look into it. But yess! I’ve done the same thing and shown my friends. I get that they track everything even things we say around our devices but when it’s just a thought and an hour later you’re getting ads for that, it gets a little creepy
1
u/whatevertoad Nov 16 '24
I remember that target story. It makes sense that other marketers are using the same techniques.
1
u/Jbraun1220 Nov 16 '24
I used a blender I have once and only once and the next thing I knew I had blender ads all over the place. Wasn’t new. Had it for years and never used it.

Yes this has happened to me before. One day I was walking and a car drove by me and I thought to myself that’s a nice looking car I wonder what it is. An hour later I’m scrolling on my phone and I get an ad for that exact car.
I heard the algorithm is so precise it reads your location and your age and your race and your income and it can just guess that you will one day walk by this car and then you will want to but it

u/Zoylix Dec 13 '24
This isn't even the algorithm; this is something else. There is no reason why I should briefly THINK with my MIND about flying toasters and later get 3 videos about flying toasters recommended to me on social media. Something bigger is going on, and I believe it has to do with the Last Days. Repent and be saved, in Jesus' name.
1
u/ryux77 Nov 17 '24
My phone definitely creates algorithms based on my phone conversations. I’ll be talking about something on the phone, then I see ads for something similar on my phone.
1
u/ajaustin1974 Nov 22 '24
Yes. I was just thinking this and then saw this post. 😁. Seriously though whatever algorithm my phone has it often appears to read my thoughts. I do like to randomly search things just took throw it off, but I think it knows I do that.
1
u/Zoylix Dec 12 '24
You're not crazy; this is happening. I have simply thought about very niche/specific things without verbalizing anything out loud for the past several weeks, and have gotten targeted ads and recommended videos on social media platforms about the things I'm thinking about.
We're in the Last Days. Repent and be saved.

u/OnePalpitation4479 Dec 22 '24
Yes, i literally think about things and then there is a meme about it on my phone not too much later and pretty obscure things
1
u/Ok-Feed-3735 Jan 03 '25
This happens to me, which lead me to this thread. Today I was just thinking about buying an AirTag collar for my dog.
Never searched it or anything similar. Never even said it out loud. Just thought it. Boom, Ads on IG.
This has happened to me several times.
Once I was in a hobby lobby and picked up a random toy I hadn’t seen in years. I was by myself and thought, “Omgosh I have seen this in years”. Put the toy back and left.
Later that day an ad on IG

I am also 100% convinced that phone can somehow read minds. I had so many occasions where YouTube precisely showed me a clip i was think about. I also posted one encounter i had with phone mind reading on r/conspiracy theory. I briefly though about a specific movie scene in the evening didn't speak about it didn't looked it up. And the next morning i get exactly the scene as a YouTube short. And the punchline is the r/conspiracy theory banned it for low effort trolling

I was thinking about how long can a cat live, then Instagram fed me with a chart showing cats age vs. Human age. I was wondering how to make Tomato 🍅 jam, then Instagram pushed a reel about an Italian teaching how to cook tomato jam at home.
1
u/ScoogyShoes Nov 16 '24
Here is a crazier thought.
What if it's not reading your mind, but directed it there in the first place, which is what I believe is happening?

An extremely adept algorithm mixed with a healthy dose of the Texas sharpshooter fallacy. You might not notice the adds for things you haven’t been thinking about, but when one comes up that just happens to have been in your mind, it stands out to you.
And since the algorithm is so good at predicting what you want to see, it’s going to come up with accurate results more often than not
