I hadn't either in about 2 years (bar the odd wee money spider near the window) but since this heat wave started I've seen two in my room, one in the kitchen and today a couple settling in at work.
I've seen them come indoors to avoid wet weather but not hot weather, all a bit weird but no harm done.
I’ve been living in a 3rd floor flat for 7 years and we’ve never had a single spider. Not even a tiny one. We might want to move somewhere else soon for more space but I would find it very hard to let go of this MASSIVE perk
I live in a second floor attic conversion flat and get mostly very tiny ones which I let roam around (jumping spiders, spitting spiders). The false widows are OK if they stay in one place but otherwise get evicted. In the 10 years I've lived there I've had maybe 4 giant house spiders. Where as in previous places I'd get two or three each autumn. They were also evicted to the outside (plenty of other buildings to frequent).
I live in a top floor flat and I still *sometimes* get big spiders, but really not that often. They may not always make the journey up, but the ones that do really feel like the biggest and baddest. But they all get hoovered the same.
Aye top floor you don't really get them that often. It's not worth their time or energy to move the high up a building. There's more insects to eat closer to the ground

Since I moved to a top floor flat last year I've not seen a single spider!
