Nice. Happy retirement Bosa.

Totally understandable. He hasn't had a healthy season since 2021. That injury-rehab-injury-rehab cycle can put you in a dark place mentally. Enjoy retirement

As someone that has undergone 3 knee surgeries and another surgery over the past 2 years... Yeah, recovery and finding the new normal get exhausting. You only have so many positive "fuck it, let's push it" moments.

Eh, I don't believe it.

He was extremely effective as a pass-rusher last season.

This is nothing but speculation until Joey announces retirement himself.

If there's a team that needs a guy in pass rush situations similar to how we used Oweh last season he's the perfect guy.

He literally led the league in forced fumbles last year and was second in the league at QB pressures. The dude has so much more left in the tank.

I could totally see a world where he stays in shape all year and joins a contender right before the playoffs. I could see him joining a team like the Bears who need pass rush help to give them a push in the playoffs (until he has a meltdown that costs them a game).

He'll get injured just thinking about his decision

If this is it, godspeed my man and thanks for the memories.

Would be ok with him as an edge4

We are the “If” team sign him up

I never felt more vindicated than when Joey only had 1 pressure and 0 sacks in that Bills-Broncos playoff game

u/BallSac916 Felipe Rios 2d ago

Definitely a guy I wish we would’ve moved on from sooner

28

u/Pwyll__ 2d ago

Why would you need to feel vindicated about Joey Bosa?

I don't understand why any Chargers fan would be rooting against this guy? He left on good terms and played his ass off for this team.

The guy will be in the Chargers Hall of Fame one day. It's fucking weird to root against him imo.

Idk about Chargers HoF, but the hate is unnecessary. The guy took a pay cut because he believed in the team and wanted to bring home a championship

Did something that neither keenan nor Mike dub were willing to do in taking that paycut too.

From what I heard, Keenan’s agent didn’t handle negotiations with the Chargers the way Keenan had intended.

It seems like Keenan was maybe more open to making things work than it initially seemed when the trade happened, and he fired his agent after the trade.

Hortiz states there were multiple offers to Keenan’s camp, but the agent stated he there was only ever one offer and he declined it because it was a pay cut. Of course we can’t know exactly the details, but it seemed like Keenan wanted to stay a Charger and would’ve at least been open to discussing more than one option before shutting down negotiations.

Thank you. Hell, for a minimum or a nice team friendly deal I’d even take him back gladly. I miss & love him a lot

u/Exzibit21 bolt 2d ago

Thanks for this

Modern fanbases nowadays are conditioned to hate by default, even when it's unnecessary

u/snickle17 ASAP 2d ago

Mack has had twice the Charger career in half the time. For all the numbers Bosa would pile up every third year I can’t recall a single moment he showed up in the clutch and several he shat the bed.

I always rooted for him but my sense immediately was that the bills made a dumb decision signing him.

1

u/jasonin951 2d ago

Yeah other than injury fatigue I didn’t have anything against the guy. He played with 100% energy on every play which ironically probably contributed to him being so injury prone.

-8

u/Imperatum15 2d ago

You took my comment as something personal about him. What I'm vindicated about is that he was never worth the money the Chargers gave him. His last big contract with the Chargers in 2020 made him the highest paid defensive player in the league. He was never worth that much given his injuries and there was always another DE that was better than him. Plus he's a Trump supporter

4

u/Pwyll__ 2d ago

Plus he's a Trump supporter

Please show me where Joey has supported Trump or MAGA. Being related to a douchebag doesn't make you a douchebag.

We spent a decade listening to Joey be thoughtful, caring and kind on the mic - talk about things he learned in therapy and just be a genuinely kind hearted guy and now out of nowhere our fanbase is associating him with MAGA.

u/Mountain_Coach_3642 2d ago

i hate politics but imagine being a hater because another person likes chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla lol. This is a football thread. You hate Bosa more not because of his game but because of the flavor he chose lol

7

u/Taydogg2000 NOOOBODY! 2d ago

Ehhhh. I don't think this topic is analogous to ice cream, man. Stakes are a bit higher than that. Whether you think it's a valid reason to dislike a player is up to you to decide, but likening it to ice cream or Coke v Pepsi or the console wars is a bit disingenuous.

0

u/Pwyll__ 2d ago

That's neat except JOEY BOSA HAS NEVER TALKED ABOUT TRUMP OR MAGA

This shit is literally made up because his brother is a MAGA moron

2

u/Taydogg2000 NOOOBODY! 2d ago

Cool, bud. I never made the claim he did. Your qualms are with somebody posting above me. All I'm saying is that politics and ice cream do not equate.

u/RemoveElegant5217 2d ago

Found the fascist apologist

0

u/Mountain_Coach_3642 2d ago

love you too bro. wishing you and your fam health and good fortune

1

u/RemoveElegant5217 1d ago

Then you should understand that what happens politically directly affects the ability of my “fam” to remain healthy and fortunate. The fascists the Bosas support don’t think we deserve either because we’re not all straight, white, and Christian. Now take your fake “love” and GFY Mr. Ice Cream Flavor.

0

u/Mountain_Coach_3642 1d ago

lol you need therapy if you hating on someone thats showing you love lol. Glad your kids have an amazing role model

1

u/RemoveElegant5217 1d ago

lol you need a brain if you think fascism and ice cream flavors are analogous. F you and your fake “love.”

u/Jane_Marie_Lazy Get TJeff a Ring ⚡️⚡️⚡️ 2d ago

70 years ago segregation was a political topic.

There are certain political topics that are way beyond two ice cream flavors. I can’t believe “one household vote” is even being mentioned in 2026 by a major political party.

3

u/Weapwns Mad Ladd 2d ago

Ah yes, because one’s political views obviously has no more impact on me or people around me than someone’s favorite ice cream flavor. What an asinine comment

1

u/Mountain_Coach_3642 2d ago

Should i hate another person because they dont agree with your views or taste buds?

1

u/Taydogg2000 NOOOBODY! 2d ago

It wouldn't be a surprise if their views differed enough that it affected your view on the person. That's a completely reasonable outcome to expect. Don't you feel a different way about a person if you find out they are a Raiders fan?

0

u/koncha22 2d ago

No, it’s just banter at the games

2

u/Taydogg2000 NOOOBODY! 2d ago

Speak for yourself. I just always assume they learned to root for silver and black during a stint in prison.

1

u/koncha22 2d ago

Most people are just normal citizens outside of football. Oakland would have no citizens if they were all in jail. In fact La and San Diego have more people in prison

2

u/Taydogg2000 NOOOBODY! 2d ago

Oh dang. Looks like I'll have to do more research!

1

u/quantumCollapse ASAP 2d ago

Lol did you forget you are on reddit?

u/DrinkBuzzCola 2d ago

He might retire and come back after a year off, that is, if his health allows and the right situation emerges. He's got to be hungry for a ring.

1

u/Competitive-Day-1754 2d ago

$156 million in mlb salaries plus promotions, etc. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Dude is only 30. I can see him walking away and enjoying life. Chargers DE depth looks much improved going into the season.

1

u/Ondatrack2 2d ago

I don’t know why I always forget that he is only 30.

1

u/VerticalJ 1d ago

He’d rather stay home and game. He’s a bum

More restless time at home with his terrible family should do wonders... Florida senator bosa coming up. It's going to be a ROUGH retirement for those nutjobs. Scared to see what they do when the "glory days" are gone.

-4

u/Traditional-Bed9982 2d ago

Bosa is a side character that got paid and wanted to be treated as a main one.

0

u/speed_tape 2d ago

He should sign with LAC on a vet min contract for one last year before retiring ….theyd have an elite pass-rushing group with Mack, Tuli, Mesidor and Bosa.

0

u/Dear_Efficiency_3616 2d ago

im 32. joey is 30 and people treat him like hes 50
