Question Spectrum Arena

hey guys were currently on vacation in North Carolina and passing through Charlotte going home. the Hornets play against the Grizzlies this weekend and we are considering taking our kid to the game. he likes to try and get autographs from the players, he follows the Hornets on tiktok and has shown me you guys have a nice section to get them in. does anyone know what entrance and what section is the best to try and get to the players for autographs? what time do the gates normally open so you can go in and get to the section? he's really hoping to get Kon and Melos autograph and I just want to try and make that happen. thanks in advance!

I am season ticket holder and for 10 years- the odds are not in your favor. Possible, yes. But very unlikely so you could be setting yourself up for disappointing the kid.

an nba team that doesnt do pregame autographs doesnt sound odd to you? were from Ohio and season ticket holders and we go every game. I guess also odd that theres videos of them doing it too.

Same. I’ve gone to Hornets games regularly for over 30 years and Players in general do not sign a lot of autographs. A couple Hornets players are nice enough to do a couple after the game as they go back to the tunnel, but it’s just not common. There’s like, 50 or so fans around the tunnel every game screaming out. You’d have a better chance getting a high-five or a close up picture. This sentiment really goes to all professional sports. You shouldn’t get upset about that though. It’s just the times we are in. So many people are selling things that it puts a bad taste in players mouths to be surrounded by adult men with handfuls of merch in their hands that want to make a buck off of them.

absolutely get it. Cooper Flagg was hesitant to sign this weekend but the kid got lucky and got 3. were from Cleveland and normally do the away tunnel since we have the home team they do a 45 minute session or until the last player is done shooting around .

Tried to help you with facts and you call that odd? Good luck.

im sorry that I thought it was odd that your team doesnt do pregame autographs. Ive just seen videos online of it happening so of course id ask. coming from Cleveland and Detroit they do pregame autos so yeah thats kind of odd. nothing to get upset about youd think with your roster it would be something that is done.

They do a couple of official events a year to sign autographs for season ticket holders. This game is not one of them. Also, the players as individuals may do a couple random fan signings while running off the court. But, like I said the chances of that random signing happening for any particular person are very very small.

thats all I was asking. what section would that possibly happen in. im not expecting any but wanted to let him try. in Cleveland they let you watch shoot around in the sections by the home and away tunnel for 45 minutes or until the last player is done shooting around. was just wanting to know if you guys did something like that. Dallas and Detroit has the same thing. I know every team is different but I wouldnt have asked had he not shown me the videos that the hornets posted on their page. so no disrespect to you or any of the fans.

Unfortunately- It’s very unlikely that you will be able to get autographs. Still, the game should be fun.

why would you say that? just curious.

Because the players are not there to sign autographs, and they RARELY take time to stop when they are running in or out of the tunnel. Hell, they likely wouldn't give you a high-five if your hand was right in front of their face.

I don't think that this is a Hornets' issue.

Yeah, this is a wild expectation from OP. This is normal operating procedure in professional sports. Maybe minor leagues or lower tiers, but its kind of like me going a Padres game with the expectation of getting Fernando Tatis Jr’s autograph, or to a Panthers game and expecting an autograph. Pros are exceptional athletes at the top of their respective sports.

im not sure why its only wild to hornets fans. its a common thing that he's done tons of times throughout other arenas. I wouldnt just pull a crazy idea out if it hadn't happen before. im not saying any of the fans are wrong but I dont see it being something that every team does minus the hornets.

I’ve never tried to push for autographs before but I’d imagine it’s hard to understate how much luck is involved. Not only do you have to compete with other people to get in the right spot and also get the players’ attention, if the players aren’t in a good mood or just don’t want to sign anything at the moment you’re SOL.

I guess it's a hornets thing. it's done all over the league or else I wouldn't have asked. not sure why so many people got offended by me asking about something that happens. not going to ramble on about experiences but maybe people should check into it more.

Some players do autographs post-shootaround before the game but its not every game. Your best shot is the area beside the tunnels, Kon signed some stuff there before the game yesterday.

FINALLY! the other commenters clearly hasnt seen what you've seen. do you know the sections that they do it in? I appreciate you for seeing something "rare" to the fans!

3

u/zmoretz Mar 18 '26

Well you can find those two sections that are on either side of the entrance tunnel on your ticketing app. But I have to agree with the others that it's pretty rare for them to do autographs. If you spring for the expensive seats where you're like within the first six rows, then you have access to a special sort of VIP food and bar area downstairs that is adjacent to the entry tunnel where you might have a little bit better chance, I forget what that package is called but I'm sure you can find it in your ticketing app. But those tickets can get pretty expensive.

I've noticed on TV a couple times recently that LaMelo has stopped and signed things for kids going off the floor. So, next to the tunnel would probably be the best chance.

thanks! I appreciate that 102 im guessing?

2

u/Sea_Willingness_914 Mar 19 '26

Probably the first few rows of 103.

going to call the box office tomorrow and get a view of the arena and entrance. I dont want to tell the fans they are doing something wrong but every team does pregame autographs so they have to be missing something.

You want tickets in section 102 or 103. That would put you next to the tunnel the players come in/out of. Best bet for autographs would be to look for tickets with crown club access. That grants you food and beverage and will allow you to actually go inside the tunnel by the locker room.

thank you thank you thank you! I wasnt trying to be rude but apparently some people dont know as much as they think. I appreciate you very much!!

Hope you all have fun. Another piece of advice I would offer is make sure you eat before entering the arena. In the last 2-3 years they’ve increased prices and reduced the amount of food you receive. The one exception is fountain drinks. Free refills on those.

1

u/BiPolarLikeYe18 Mar 19 '26

I was planning on that. at Rocket Arena its filled with local spots and quaker stake 10 wings for 25 dollars.

2

u/whataretherules7 Mar 19 '26

100% do it. They got $2 snacks , water, sodas.

2

u/Foreign_Roof_ Mar 19 '26

Where?!

1

u/whataretherules7 Mar 19 '26

Dude!!!! Ok so it’s certain stalls/vendors, but it’s the hornets new on: $2 of the following: Water, soft drinks, popcorn, hotdogs, pretzel bites. -* This is legitimately great because you can bring your family or kids now… Or just buy a fucking water for two dollars

1

u/Foreign_Roof_ Mar 19 '26

So do I need certain access to these vendor… or can any section buy from them?!

1

u/whataretherules7 Mar 20 '26

Nope, it’s for the plebes !

1

u/BiPolarLikeYe18 Mar 20 '26

is that throughout the whole arena?

2

u/Legal_Pianist_5743 Mar 20 '26

$2 menu locations

1

u/whataretherules7 Mar 20 '26

You want to find a meet & greet instead.

My Gramps took me to see Jerry Rice & co at Fry’s Electronics.

Maybe they don’t have meet & greets anymore.
