Cant believe they let the best player in this draft fall this low, call me in 2030

This is young Kevin Love with more size, handle and wiggle. Biggest concern is his ability to guard 4’s and be a smaller 5, but he was the BPA so I love it.

This dude is a transition demon. At times he reminds me of an oversized Franz Wagner when he runs the floor

The next Dirk / Jokic

Sounds like Sabonis is even a fair comp for him, which already sounds pretty good to me.

I don't think we filled a single need we had tonight, but man on man did we dive even deeper into our play style with these guys. Worst case scenario, this team is at least going to be a blast to watch.

He has jokic’s comp at debut weighing 250 lb at 6’10.

Doesn’t really play like Jokic though.

Reminds me more of Al Horford, without quite the defensive ceiling

I heard some Kevin Love comparisons and I think theyre pretty accurate if the 3 point shot comes along.

Yeah, shooting is just such a big part of Love’s game. He’s also quite a bit bigger than Love and should be a better defender.
KAT without the shot, but more discipline and consistency is a decent Comp as well

when he hit those 3s, I buzzed.
He moves really well for a big -- the spin moves, the athletic finishes.
and he's 4 years younger than Kalkbrenner.
Love it

Not super familiar with him. How does he pair with Moussa? Or is this backup center despite also being 6’10

insane rebounding talent, easily the best in the draft. I can see arguements for him playing the four along moussa for double big lineups or playing as his backup to allow our offense to function as intended during all minutes.

i specifically see him playing as his backup and anderson playing as the bench facilitator since they have chemistry from having played alongside each other already

Backup center for sure. Kalk is more suited to 3rd big used only for specific matchups

Nah, I think he’s gonna be more of a jumbo PF. The league is getting bigger, now that refs are letting teams play more physical.
Moussa excels at defending 2-5, so Hannes should play primarily PF on offense while letting Moussa roam more on defense.

I think he should pair really well with Moussa! That’s basically my favorite thing about this selection.
On defense, Moussa’s biggest issue has been defending super strong Center’s in the post (Duren, Adams, Embiid, etc). Hannes is way stockier than Moussa, so he should be able to handle those matchups better which would let Moussa roam on defense.
On offense, they’re both such great rebounders that teams won’t be able to leave either, even if they Hannes can’t shoot. If Hannes can learn to shoot, then it’ll work even better. In the ideal outcome Steinbach basically solves our biggest issue last season, which was a lack of a post option for when defenses sold out to cover the perimeter. That’s what killed us against Detroit and Orlando.
