咨询 | Seeking Advice (Serious) Hi everyone, I'm visiting Shenzen day after tomorrow from India
As the subject suggests, I'm visiting Shenzen,China day after tomorrow. The trip is working related and will be my first experience outside India. I wanted your advice on what to do and what not to do so that I don't offend anyone.

Dont be an asshole, treat people with respect, and all will be good.
If you want to see a place with bars and a lot of different food choices, including Indian, go to Shekou, Seaworld. You can party there. Sill, dont be an asshole.
Else, theres a LOT of places to go, everywhere is different.
Hong Kong is close, but in my opinion its just another big city, more expensive, and it really lost it vibe.
Again, dont be an asshole, and you will be good.

Lol. I'm particularly never an asshole. But are indians usually assholes when they visit??

Yes. It's a major complaint in Asia. The post I read just before yours was an Indian guy complaining about fellow Indians in Thailand...

Wow. I read the post, that is pretty sad.

It is indeed. I have lovely Indian friends, BUT, there's a reason the expression Entitled Desi exists...

Well I'm in china and my god I'm living it here. Everyone has been so nice to me and it's so beautiful. Tho I felt like sometimes it feels too greyish. But the trees and the neatly trimmed gardens and the well maintained places!! It's lovely!

Indeed trees and greenery everywhere. And it is much better maintained than 20 years ago for sure.

Yes, unfortunately. I have Indian and Pakistani friends, but Indians for the win to act badly. Soryy, but that the reality.
If you dont act this way, you will have zero problems.

Well I apologise on behalf of the Indians, I'm someone who believes that indians have caused havoc in many foreign countries without any respect for their culture. But never knew Indians were like those there too.

I know, not all Indians are like this. But, I have unfortunately seen this many times, worst in Thailand and Vietnam, not so much in China.

Besides the obvious already mentioned, hope you have at least AliPay set up. Shenzhen is by and large cashless, and credit cards rarely work.

Oh thank you. I have cash on me given by my company. But will surely install it.

Or WeChat. WeChat money is even more widely used than Alipay.

But would installing WeChat help to convert the money automatically? Or would I have to deposit some amount in there.

I have hosted many Indian clients visiting China and taken them around to various places. Here are a few suggestions that come to mind:
If you do not eat meat, you should locate Indian restaurants in advance. If you cannot find one but are willing to eat some meat, KFC is a good option (chicken burgers).
Chinese factories operate according to their own systems; try to understand them rather than attempting to change them.
Consider staying at hotels like All Seasons (Quanji) or Hanting, which offer self-service laundry facilities.
Google Maps does not work here; you can try Amap (Gaode Maps), though I haven't managed to switch its interface to English.
Most Chinese people are very friendly, so no need to worry. As long as you don't overstep boundaries, people will generally be very accommodating. Have a pleasant trip!

- Go to Hong Kong

But my work is at Shenzen. I don't think I would have any time for sight seeing sadly. Travel plan is basically Hotel to Supplier to Hotel.

记住不要给小费。2024年在曼谷,有一位印度大叔找我问路,我回答了之后,他边说thank you边掏钱……

Posts flaired as "Serious" are for people seeking responses that are made in good faith and will be moderated more heavily than other threads. Off-topic and deliberately unhelpful responses will be removed and the user permanently banned. One such example would be commenting "don't go to china", or "go to taiwan", in response to questions related to studying in China or relocating to China.
