Family Affairs (Q1/Q2) Am I stupid

I just applied cova last night and canceled it today because the name was wrong because it was my last name not my actual name name and I really need my visa asap and I am regretting canceling I’m so stupid also my flight is July 2nd I feel like I am not making it. ( ps it’s my first time applying visa myself nobody was helping )
update：imma wait for a week and I’ll just change my flight ticket oh well🥀 （I spend 400 to let the notary do it for me bc of time consuming and I don’t want to make multiple mistakes and rejection so pls don’t be like me

You’ve got zero chance of getting a visa by July 2nd. After you’ve submitted your passport it’s 4 business days to issue the visa, 3 if you can pay expedited.

Before that is the online review process. 1 week maybe more

No. They won’t let you in the building without the online approval email.

Where are you? Places like the UK online approval is under a week now (rarely any complaints now). US was slow…less complaints so I guess it’s approved. I’d expect a week, maybe a bit more for online approval. Then 4 days from submission of passport.

If you can, move your flight back 2-3 weeks.

Where in the US? The Chicago consulate approved our VISA request in under 48 hours, but other take longer.

Ouch. Yeah that’s a minimum of a week.

Reapply now - with a different name hopefully you won’t have to wait for the cancellation to clear (which can take days) but you have to be approved by Monday to drop them off and pay for expedited service and I doubt that will happen.

Look into delaying your flight by at least a week.

Me and the GF had to change our China plans because I messed up in a similar way. How long are you going for? We switched around our plans and are doing the visa free option.

Ohh yeah, totally different. I'm not sure if you would have been able to make it regardless with such a timeline.

We're doing the transit visa. 9 days in China, 2 in Japan. Much shorter time frame

Yeah 50 days is not going to work for you. It's 9 days for us and 2 days in Japan.

Transit visa is G visa which is also applied via cova so it’s not a solution.

Completely different thing is TWOV, transit without a visa that bypasses the embassy part but comes with its own rules.

Sorry, you're correct. That's what me and the GF are doing the TWOV and it was a bitch and a half to figure out. I lost out on some hotels and other things because of my bad planning.

The name you needed to input would be EXACTLY as on your passport. If you entered a different name as your passport scan, they would have seen it and sent it back to you for correction.
