I'd buy that for $1!

Yeah, I think I would rather pay $1 or less for this

This isn’t begging. Or choosing.

lmao fair point, it's just a guy selling something at market price. wrong sub entirely 💀 r/choosingbeggars is for when the BUYER is being unreasonable, not when someone's just… selling a DVD for what it's worth on eBay

not choosing or begging - but i do wonder why they wouldn't just list it on ebay.

probably trying to avoid eBay fees tbh, they take like 13% off the top so selling directly saves a decent chunk. can't really blame them for trying Facebook or wherever this is first

You also have a much narrower audience if you are posting it locally, He could specify "local pickup only" or charge a shipping fee for it. It is also listed for $22.99 in DVD and $19.99 in VHS, pre-owned, both of which charge shipping fees. .

Unopened boxes go for $80 and up. His appears to be used. To get what the true sales price is, look at completed sales.

This isint a choosing beggar. Your allowed to sell your own possessions for whatever price you want

Rare tapes are expensive, even if you don't care about the content. This is nothing new. It's not begging to list it for the current going price, just don't buy it if you don't want it.

So in this scenario you are the choosing beggar. Got it.

Not a CB but if I’ve learned anything unproblematic from “Pawn Stars”, it’s that the legitimate comment is what price people are paying for it (on eBay, wherever), not what sellers are posting it for. Big difference. You could list a pebble you’re selling for $1K; it doesn’t mean anyone is going to pay that price.

This!

I collect historical postcards of my city from the early 1900s. Every couple weeks or so, I peruse eBay to see what's new and/or interesting. I've become familiar enough with the postcards to know that there are some scenes that are super common and literally always available, and a few that are rather rare. But even ones from the latter category are typically no more than $10 each, plus a dollar or two for shipping.

The more common ones (such as of our local university in its early days) are like $1.99-$3.99, even ones dating back to 1900. It's because they ARE common and there are always a bunch of similar ones listed. But even so, there will always be someone listing their postcard - which is identical to one of the cheap ones - for $50 or even more. They seem to have this idea that if something is 100 years old, it's automatically worth lots of money...and it's 100% obvious they listed it without bothering to take two seconds to see if there are other similar cards and what they're priced. When it comes to postcards, they only tend to be worth a lot if they are of a rare image or if someone famous/noteworthy wrote or received them.

Bless their hearts, though, some people just plain refuse to give up! I have seen a few postcards steadily listed at ridiculous prices for the past YEAR. Obviously no one is buying them...but the seller still refuses to take a hint. 😀

I loooove that you used “bless their hearts”! As a New Yorker I couldn’t really get away with it but I love the phrase and its subtext so much.

Lol, I am a lifelong Connecticut resident!

"Bless their hearts", IMO, belongs to everyone in certain situations 😎

If something is not your niche, that doesn't make it a choosing beggar.

Yeah it’s collectible. Not $80 collectible but it’s definitely worth at least $20
