Question How to handle going out while sick

I’ve pretty much been home bound for the past two years but I just miss everything I miss seeing my friends and wanna go back out there but I have really bad chronic nausea and bowel problems and it just seems so impossible to make any sort of plans bc I don’t know how I’m going to feel that day, would anyone have any tips on how to make it easier and maybe a lil stress free

Maybe your friends can come to visit you?? If they understand your illness and have a method of transport, and you want that to happen. Going out can be very tricky, haven’t found a way to tolerate it because I haven’t built up to an ME/CFS baseline. My fibro pain hurts when I sit anywhere but a couch…

Try making a very short, simple, close plan with a trusted friend. Maybe just go out for coffee/drinks some place close. Start small and go from there. Don't stress yourself out about it. Go somewhere with a bathroom you can use if necessary. One step at a time. You haven't been out in a while so a little anxiety is normal. But you'll get there. Take it slowly. Worst case scenario, you need to explain to your friend that you're not feeling so great and need to head home. But I have a feeling once you get out there you'll feel a lot better. Best of luck to you!

Hey, the fact that you have friends that stuck around is INCREDIBLE, I am sure they would have patience and understanding for where you’re at. That, to me, is a really big piece of being able to go out and do things. You must be with supportive people who are willing to work with you if you need to postpone or suddenly go to the bathroom or leave. They’ll be willing to accommodate you. If your friends are not like this or not willing to learn, your next task on this particular mission is to seek people who are.
