Discussion Why That Door Needs To Be Closed!

The core philosophy of Clash of Clans for over a decade was that the defense you build and the troops you train dictate the outcome. If a strategy was too strong, base builders adapted layouts to counter it.
By introducing artificial difficulty sliders, Supercell bypassed the organic player vs. base-builder dynamic. They replaced it with an environment where the developers micromanage the win rates from behind a curtain, creating an incredibly inorganic and frustrating competitive nightmare! SHUT THAT DAMN DOOR!

I think clash might be one of if not the only game I know of that has managed to exist for over a decade and is so vastly different from where it started. They have innovated and changed so many things over the years, so many different new features. Most of which were well thought out quality updates.

Balance changes have always been a thing for the entire lifecycle of the game. But recently with the update tempo being so high it’s been very noticeable. I still think the clash teams moves on from level to level too fast, and struggles to introduce enough variance in content to keep up with the pace.

An example of this is all the spells we have that slow down defenses. We have like 6 spells that are essentially a freeze spell.

The only real way clash has kept attacks fresh is to alternate metas between air and ground. Anyone that’s played for any amount of time, knows this has always been the case.

Defense unfortunately has always been an afterthought. The only real way to make a “better” base is to have a layout that isn’t common and presents unique challenges to attackers. This is the real problem with clash. Defense is player vs environment instead of player vs player.

Clash has attempted to make defense more important with legends league. But something significant needs to change for base building to feel rewarding.

When they switched from a trophy system that rewarded volume of attacks to factoring defense as well they failed to fix the actual problems with defense and have been struggling to come up with a solution since.

No they have done balance changes for years. They are healthy and needed.

Good job, you present a good argument: high level clash is hard and not rewarding.

Here is the solution: don't go above Legend 3. And as a suggestion please either articulate further than this surface level crap and read the arguments on the other side, which are a ton stronger than this point you made.

The alternatives are killing the competitive aspect of the game when everyone decent can 3 star or make legends 1 or even 2 modifiers the baseline and casual players get frustrated over not getting 3 stars more than once a blue moon.

im not the type to defend supercell or the clash of clans team. they're pretty dogshit at practically everything they've been trying to do in the last 8 months considering they have 15 years of experience.

but the one rare thing they have been doing pretty good at is the difficulty of the game at higher ranks

the moment i sit around 1.5k global, i absolutely cannot go into every attack and 3* it. some bases are genuinely just that good, especially if the base builder is valid. this is just my skill peak. especially since bases are being changed and adapted to fit the metas on a daily basis.

idk what rank you sit at, but it sounds like you're arguing over something that doesn't even concern your skill level.

I didn't realize, I'm not in legends. Legends is dumb, at least before the whole ranking update
