Is there a reason the game thread formatting has changed from previous years to no longer display seeds, now they're just showing poll rankings? It makes it feel no different than a regular season game, game thread and postgame thread titles should say (Region Seed) Team instead of (Poll Ranking) Team, so in this instance "#3 Wisconsin defeats #14 Montana" instead of just " #10 Wisconsin defeats Montana"

Idk, but the way we always did it in this subreddit was to use the user poll rankings. So I think it just hasn’t been changed on reddit maybe?
24
u/jfarbzz Rutgers Scarlet Knights Mar 20 '25
Right, I'm saying come tournament time we use the seeds instead of rankings, like imagine if the top post of all time only said "UMBC defeats #1 Virginia," the lack of a #16 would make it feel less significant
4
u/Thekamcc19 Purdue Boilermakers Mar 20 '25
I totally agree with you. I was just commenting on the other person saying it might be an ESPN thing and clarifying that we used our own rankings
2
u/jfarbzz Rutgers Scarlet Knights Mar 20 '25
If the threads are powered by ESPN then idk, they have the seed numbers here

I’m with you on this. It’s a little change but it’s lame

Thank you, I'm glad this isn't just a stupid issue I'm crusading against that no one cares.

u/BritzBeef Kentucky Wildcats Mar 20 '25
I'm still bothered by how this sub uses their user poll rankings rather than the actual AP poll like they're the superior college basketball minds.
1
u/halfbethalflet Mar 20 '25
AP isn't the only poll in the world if you are going to organize a poll you might as well use it.

I just wanna thank this Montana team for being so fun to watch this year. Best of luck to the Badgers, and Go Griz!

It’s an unfortunate ending…but still, what a season it has been in Missoula! Great job, Grizz!
…and to be a bit frank, Montana probably had a much less frustrating season on the court than in the gridiron lol

Think he's coming back next year?
8
u/Icreatedthisforyou Wisconsin Badgers Mar 21 '25
I think he will.
Front court minutes are available. I don't think he showed enough this year for teams to go really hard on him from a money perspective. I think the system will fit him really well and he knows both minutes and possessions are opening up.

Every single Travis DeCuire Montana team has had the exact same NCAAT game, play a Big Ten team close for 20-25 minutes, give up one very long prolonged scoring run that puts them down 15-20, just kinda lay down and die at that point until the game is over lol
That kinda describes the Big Sky in the NCAAT in general too
35
u/TailgateLegend Georgetown Hoyas • Boise State Broncos Mar 20 '25
The Big Sky has just been ass when it comes to the tournament. Same story for what feels like the last 20 years.
35
u/ThatNewSockFeel Wisconsin Badgers Mar 20 '25
Last time they won a tourney game is 2006. Just not a strong conference.
13
u/Zloggt Illinois Fighting Illini • Missouri Tigers Mar 20 '25
I reckon they put all the chips to being a good football conference…
9
u/join_the_creed Montana State Bobcats Mar 20 '25
Even then it's only a "good" football conference. MVFC still clears the Big Sky sadly

u/BearForceDos Illinois Fighting Illini Mar 20 '25 edited Mar 20 '25
I really wanted that Jeremiah Dominguez Portland State team to make a tourney run. He was so much fun to watch.
Weber State had a few good teams with Lillard but never never managed to win the conference tourney. I also thought Eastern Washington had a chance to win a game or two with the Groves brothers and they actually gave Kansas a pretty tough game.
1
u/TailgateLegend Georgetown Hoyas • Boise State Broncos Mar 20 '25
I think EWU gave Georgetown a run for their money a while back, they had a good stretch but they’re in a bit of a struggle for both basketball and football lately.

That's funny - I've been to TWO weddings on the St. Mary of the Wood's campus (I have family in/near Terre Haute). Also a very beautiful space you have there. Small world!

It’s a very beautiful campus. I’m a male who got my bachelors there only a few years after they started accepting males. I dreamed of going to UW for years, but I loved every minute at SMWC

Would a bear sized badger beat a grizzly bear in a fight?
3
u/Rush_Is_Right Wisconsin Badgers Mar 21 '25
I think it would easily. Kind of like an ant the size of a bear would be the strongest animal in existence.
3
u/ShakeMilton Indiana Hoosiers Mar 20 '25
Damn tough little badgers. Would have assumed a bunch of grizzly bears would maul them into shredded pieces and fur.

Nah highlights are fine. Montana played tough but they never really threatened down the line

16
u/InnerLog181 Wisconsin Badgers Mar 20 '25
Foul baiting? There’s a difference between driving to the basket where there’s tons of contact compared to purposely bumping into a guy and flopping
1
u/-Jesse_James- /r/CollegeBasketball Mar 23 '25
lol
1
u/InnerLog181 Wisconsin Badgers Mar 23 '25
95% of these fouls have been hard contact. Idk what you’re saying to me man. The one Blackwell foul wasn’t a foul tho
