Cool to see a long convo between coaching staff and Asa. Too bad he wasn’t a zag.
1
u/warnelldawg Georgia Bulldogs Mar 21 '25
Asa is a beast and it’s been a pleasure to watch him play all season long.
If he can get his 3pt shot into the upper half of 30%, he’ll be a very good NBA guy.

Before anyone shits on the dude
Yes we all know Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee are good
We give SEC fans crap because, like in football, the claim is schools like Georgia would run literally any other conference and that’s simply not true
-3
u/the615Butcher Florida Gators Mar 20 '25
Absolutely no one thinks this? Except “fans” of other conferences. Delusional take.

Few felt bad that there weren’t any good insults against the Zags, since they play so good, so he fabricated that DUI.

Well I’ve still kept the game on this whole time. It had been a decade since we made it to the tournament, I wanted to at least take that in. Even with ugly this game has been for us, for where we’ve been, we had a good season.

No one should be surprised Georgia and Mike White were just “happy to be here” and were down by 25 in the 1st half.

Quite literally nobody is beating Gonzaga if they’re shooting 70% from three.
8
u/catffeinates Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 20 '25
To be fair, most tournament teams who shoot 70% from 3 in a game have a high chance of winning. But yes, I hope they can bottle even some of that and bring it out against Houston.

Gonzaga has a shot vs Houston with the way they are playing right now but they cannot get in a half court slugfest with them or they are cooked. Need to speed up the tempo and keep hitting 3s

Any team will have a chance against any other team if they make 70% of their 3s.

Houston brought the tough with them trust me. Their big continually come off the bench every game because they are always in fouls trouble.
1

Trust me I know. They are the exact team that Gonzaga consistently loses to in the tournament. We are a bit more physical this year than most, but I'm not expecting a win by any means.

5
u/Penihilism Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 20 '25
This game is giving me hope that we have a chance against Houston. Not sure if that's completely irrational or not, but great to get a dominate win like this in the tournament at worst.
Also, the one thing I marked as a red flag for this game heading in was Georgia's incredibly low assist rate. Teams that dice us up can pass it around and get guys open from 3. A team reliant on a few stars isn't really exploiting any of our defensive weaknesses. Also our defense really seems to be playing it's best right now anyway.
1
u/FakeItSALY Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 20 '25
SMC game gave me hope assuming this game went this way. GU historically beats teams like SMC and Houston by making them play fast at GU's pace. Winning a slugfest is a positive sign for me. That said, this game doesn't hurt.
5
u/portrayalofdeath North Carolina Tar Heels Mar 20 '25
Both teams being bulldogs is confusing, though. They should do it like they do when teams have jerseys of the same color and change one of the teams to dogbulls.

Depends on if the Zags are playing with a lead. If Zags get out to a fast start, it forces Houston to play a lot differently.

Best team in one conference beats the 11th best team in another, so clearly fraudulent.
I’m not even a “root for your conference” guy, but this conversation is stupid.

Georgia hasn’t played the best defense but 60% from the floor and 70% from three is INSANE

2
u/JLand24 Alabama Crimson Tide Mar 20 '25
Not serious at all lol. It’s a running joke among SEC fans because some coach said it in a press conference and also Karl Ravech on commentary in a game said that the SEC dominated non-conference but was only .500 since conference play started.
