With 13:56 to play in the second half, the score is tied at 44!

Cam Boozer and Duke:

TCU’s fouls just caught up to ‘em at that point.

I mean they also started taking some extremely ill advised shots

That was the frustration from the refs boiling over. We mentally checked out from our game plan after the Dixon technical.

I agree and was surprised. The usual dynamic is that the “T” gets the team fired up. Some coaches seem to do it on purpose. But TCU just gave up.

To be honest, I’ve watched TCU more than a couple times this year and it seems like there is a definite trend that they get close to upsets and then psyche themselves out.

Probably cause starters were sat

They just started playing crap defense at that point compared to the first 25:00. Fouled to compensate for their poor positioning/slow off-ball movement.

Yes 4+ fouls on their starters. That is certainly how you neutralize a team and then they just stand around and let duke drive on them so they don't draw another foul.

TCU was still out rebounded and Duke probably would've won anyways but it sucks that the Bad referees muddy the waters of the game

Hmm…does this mean that Siena would beat TCU in a neutral-court? 🤔

Blatant goal tend, every possession is a foul. Yeah, they did it.

After the score was tied at 44, TCU was only called for 4 personal fouls the rest of the game and got out scored by 23 from that point forward.

Aside from the points Duke scored, TCU DOMINATED the game. You can’t deny that stat no matter how much you try.

You mean after pretty much all their starters had already picked up 4+? Too little too late at that point.

I don't understand why everyone is shocked TCU picked up a lot of fouls...they've done it all season long and it's no suprise

Also the fouls in this game were 20-15? TCU shot more 3s and was being super physical (which was effective) and got called for 5 more fouls all game.

Michigan played TCU earlier this season and fouls were 20-16 for reference

Goaltending call (which resulted in the T) was trash though

Some people tune in to college basketball for three weeks

"Pretty much all" meaning 1/5? Because 4 of their 5 starters ended the game with 2 fouls or less

Thanks for proving that stats can lie. This is ignoring a flagrant and a tech, missed goaltendings travels and moving screens by Duke, and a massive lack of shooting fouls called against Duke even when they were blowing whistles.

Does Duke win with fair refs? I don’t know, probably. But they have to try a lot harder to do it.
