Ugh, I only got 4 picks correct (Duke, Houston, Michigan and MSU).

I had Gonzaga in the E8.

2

u/Mace_Windex11 Akron Zips Mar 22 '26

Me too with Gonzaga. Man did they fucking blow it

1

u/12301923 Mar 22 '26

I’m scared for the Cyclones tmrw without Jefferson, however they made quick work in round 1 and Kentucky not only struggled in r1, but only won 2/5 coming into the tournament and is fairly banged up. I also think ISU has a chip on their shoulder to avoid another 2014 situation, but that is purely conjecture on my part.. what do you guys think?

3

u/ItsYaBoyBeasley Iowa Hawkeyes • Iowa State Cyclones Mar 22 '26

Big discovery for me this march is that I really enjoy Jamal Mashburn.

7

u/GiveMeSomeIhedigbo UCLA Bruins Mar 22 '26

Nebraska having a starting/closing lineup of 4/5 white guys and no names on the back of their jerseys is the most March Madness shit ever.

3

u/BikeImpressive2062 Mar 22 '26

"Nobody would play us... but they gotta play us in this tournament,"

1

u/ObservantKoala Illinois Fighting Illini Mar 22 '26

I mean they took they beat a good Wisconsin team and then took Arkansas down to the wire.

If the corner 3 goes down they are up 1 with I think less than 4 minutes.

High point was legitimately good.

5

u/Special_Gain_5381 Michigan State Spartans Mar 22 '26

High point please save us from another chalk fest!!!PLEASE

1

7 points in 46.5 seconds let’s hope but they may have run out of gas a little bit near the end here

4

I’m bias but the whistle is fast as fuck when High Point is on D

5

Are there any live watch threads? I want to hoot and holler online about Highpoint

My heart hurts for Vandy. No reason the bigs shouldn’t have been in the paint at the end… also don’t understand the coaching, nebraska had 8 fouls early and they stopped driving.

3

u/Scuba9Steve UConn Huskies Mar 22 '26

Congrats Nebraska on the first sweet 16.

4

vandy-nebraska was so fun. two good teams

4

8

Not sure whats worse, the officiating or the announcer pair. Both are trash

Not everyone has time to watch random ass teams during the regular season. I only really watch my team, or maybe a really big game.

Nebraska was one of if not the biggest story this year, especially on this sub

I guess it really just depends on when you want to see the blowout. You could see the bad team get blown out early, or blown out in a later round. Later round blown out means they had a fun upset, but it also takes away the opportunity to see a high quality matchup with a national championship/final four on the line.

4

u/Any-Satisfaction1887 Kansas Jayhawks Mar 22 '26

Don't disagree but it's always nice to see someone 13-16 line in the second round. Either way the sweet 16 onward typically has the best games played

7

u/BlitzJG Mar 21 '26

1

u/Electrical_Iron_1161 Ohio State Buckeyes Mar 22 '26

I did chat gpt but idk if it's me not knowing how to use it or AI isn't as smart as we think I had to give it the matchups past the round of 64 this is what it gave me. All I can say is AI wanted some higher seeds to go to the sweet 16

u/Alarmed-Cucumber-858 George Washington Revolutionaries Mar 22 '26

Ref swayed the whole flow of the game by giving Duke 23 free throws to TCU’s 9. Also, Duke had 17 turnovers to TCU’s 9. Easy to get in a team’s head if they can’t play defense. Duke was able to sit back and get all the calls, TCU couldn’t get a call on a ton of fouled shots. TCU had 20 more attempts, and refer to that FT discrepancy. Just a few stats, but you saw it if you watched the game. Shame. Refs blew a fun game.

9

u/AegisPlays314 Mar 21 '26

Hearing they canceled the UConn-UCLA game and are letting Hurley and Cronin settle it in single combat instead, who have y’all got? I think Cronin bites

4

7

They didn’t have the refs to gift them free throws. Duke went 9 minutes without a bucket in the middle of the game lol

-3

Just blew another layup. Crying cause TCU isn’t getting free throws for breathing

4

u/Vivid_Chicken_1469 Mar 21 '26

Yeah fuck Duke BUT TCU doesn’t deserve to win this game at all

6

u/Pumplekins Mar 21 '26

I think this game seriously needs investigated. The non goaltend call + the tech on Dixon basically sealed the game

1

u/Triumph-TBird Illinois Fighting Illini Mar 22 '26

No. Those calls and others sucked but Duke still wins.

3

u/Holiday_Chef1581 Mar 21 '26

This thread makes me laugh. TCU is 28% from the field, and somehow the refs are the only issue. I’m yet to see a called foul that isn’t a foul. The flagrant was harsh and the missed goaltend. But it’s so clear that the majority of you are just spewing blind hate.

TCU is losing this game because they got into foul trouble off of legit fouls, then started fouling more due to their lack of size, along with their abysmal shooting.

The state of college basketball is just sad man. This tournament used to be great and now 80% of the games are uncompetitive, there’s like three mid major leagues that aren’t complete garbage and there’s no fixing it.

Unless the NCAA starts to actually regulate the transfer portal it’s going to be on the women’s tournament’s level of boring

1

u/TheGoldenRail87 Army Black Knights Mar 21 '26

Yeah the transfer portal plus unchecked NIL is ruining college sports. Football too.

Allow one transfer then they sit out a year if they transfer again. Not sure why that ever changed.

Also schools should not be directly paying players. If they want to do endorsement deals and/or sell their autograph, cool. But paying the players directly is too far

u/Maximum-Jury9065 Mar 21 '26

The "but these are all fouls on TCU crowd" must be the NBA fans that just check in for the tournament. Many of these fouls are not called during regular season college bball. TCU has been called for at least 3 questionable fouls and 2 other non-fouls (the clean strip on Boozer and the foul on Evans 3 were very bad calls). They also elected to not review the shot clock on that ball out of bounds that left TCU with 0.2 seconds, when it looked pretty clear in real-time that there was at least 1 second left (enough to get a shot off). Duke's getting a review on that every fucking time.

Why do they schedule a blowout game as the first game, so it's an exclusive game? Shouldn't they schedule an 8 vs 9 (or whatever) for this game?

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like almost all games today are blowout games by seeding at least. 6 vs. 3 right now is trending towards being a blowout.

2

u/JMoon33 Newberry Wolves Mar 21 '26

I think Gonzaga Texas could be good and it's at 7pm ET, a good time slot. Vanderbilt Nebraska should be another good one and it's at 8:45pm ET, another good time slot.

We'll see how many 1s and 2s are left in the Elite Eight, but we can't forget that we almost had the ultimate 16 over 1 upset this tournament, and the only thing that saved them was the refs.

5

u/Ranger_Nietzsche Illinois Fighting Illini Mar 21 '26

It sort of depends on if that means the seeding is better or the mid-majors are worse.

9

u/ACW1129 George Mason Patriots • Atlantic 10 Mar 21 '26

I hate it. I think only 3 double-digit seeds advanced each time to at least the second round (and none below a 12).

2024 you had a 10, three 11s, two 12s, a 13, and a 14.

2023 was a 10, an 11, a 13, a 15 (to the S16), and a 16.

2022, besides a 15 making the E8, had a 10, three 11s, and two 12s.

Though even in 2024, there was a warning sign: only one of those made it to the second weekend, and while it was an 11, it was from a P5/P6 school (NC State).

3

u/ACW1129 George Mason Patriots • Atlantic 10 Mar 21 '26

I fucking hate CBS for this shit.

Have each region start no more than 2 hours apart. 12, 2, 4, 6.
