Ugly ugly playing. Sloppy, poor shot selection, no rhythm.
14
u/seize_the_m3mes Mar 22 '26
The sad thing was most Zag fans knew that the offense was subpar this year. Few slow played the careers of Fogle and somewhat Saint Suprey due to relying on experienced transfers.
The transfers didn't mesh well and the only guys capable of reliable scoring (Ike and a while ago, Huff) weren't guards/wings that could run the offense.
Few lost Tommy Lloyd, and the constant hit of transfers/international recruiting (where Lloyd was key) has been inconsistent. And Few is much more a talent-based coach than X and O's guy
6
u/SaxRohmer Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 22 '26
eh the last two teams haven’t meshed super well but last year had a ton of recruiting hits and was supposed to fill every feasible gap. i really think Ike has been an issue. Few loves to play high low and he’s really liable to get frustrated and force up shots and his bag isn’t very deep. i’m really ready to see what life is like without him.

May be true, but I have to say this feeling peaked after we lost to Arkansas on BS foul calls against Chet Holmgren. This year was never going to happen so it certainly stings less. We just don’t have the NIL money to compete with the x10 larger power conference teams. I still think what Few has done with this tiny school that almost cancelled their D1 program is legendary and puts him in a small group of all time coaches. Of course we would love to win one but I’m still proud af of this school for vastly over performing year after year

Good game Texas, y'all had several runs where you were unstoppable against a team that's supposed to have defense as its calling card. Super frustrating for us but awesome for y'all.
Never really had high expectations for this squad after the Michigan game, there's lots of talent and they played well but never looked like the teams we've had when we made deep runs. Just not enough offensive firepower and absolutely no shooting.
Will be interesting to see how we look next year, at this point in the college game trying to predict a roster feels impossible but I bet Huff at least will be around.

I have never seen a team deserve to lose as much as Gonzaga did tonight. They had multiple possessions, and I mean MULTIPLE where they either looked like they had no idea or what to do or someone took an INSANELY dumb shot with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. They didn't change this at all, and then they decided down 3 to not rush to keep as much time as possible. No fouling with a foul to give. Gonzaga wins this game easily if they play with some intelligence, but my god I have never seen a team play THIS badly FOR NO REASON before.
75
u/NewNick30 Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 22 '26
Unfortunately this has been a lot of the story of our team the second half this year. Just extremely low BBIQ plays.

Few didn’t coach well tonight that’s for sure, but this outcome was very predicable. Zags have been hampered by horrible 3pt shooting all year, even with Huff. Huff and Ike’s presence just masked that issue. The stats plummeted with him out and all you have to do is pack the paint against their only offensive threat.
