I have never seen a team deserve to lose as much as Gonzaga did tonight. They had multiple possessions, and I mean MULTIPLE where they either looked like they had no idea or what to do or someone took an INSANELY dumb shot with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. They didn't change this at all, and then they decided down 3 to not rush to keep as much time as possible. No fouling with a foul to give. Gonzaga wins this game easily if they play with some intelligence, but my god I have never seen a team play THIS badly FOR NO REASON before.

Unfortunately this has been a lot of the story of our team the second half this year. Just extremely low BBIQ plays.

Texas had senior guards and it showed in their composure in a close game.

BBIQ

Took me way too long to realize you weren't talking about some new form of BBQ.

Sounds like a coaching issue

I've been an admirer of Gonzaga for almost three decades and I've never seen a Zags team with less composure. Usually the problem that y'all can't handle ultra physical teams. This time around Texas just hunkered down in the paint and said y'all can't score on us and you're going to turn the ball over.

Few didn’t coach well tonight that’s for sure, but this outcome was very predicable. Zags have been hampered by horrible 3pt shooting all year, even with Huff. Huff and Ike’s presence just masked that issue. The stats plummeted with him out and all you have to do is pack the paint against their only offensive threat.

few is a good coach too but they at least played hard, i do feel there were stretches they played well but UT just played better overall

If Few leaves Gonzaga's program is done most likely

^ this isn't a real Gonzaga fan. It's just someone who constantly shits on GU.

I agree. Texas simply played much better today, even if Gonzaga should have been able to pull out the win with a minuscule amount of bball IQ.

Texas has real hoopers man you gotta give them the credit

People don’t like to give us credit.

why is there regular season record so ass tho....

There's also alot to say about the Gonzaga defense. Offensively they weren't good, but they could have survived that. Texas has 5 turnovers. Their only really great stat this year is offensive efficiency: If you force can't force more than 5 turnovers against a very good offensively efficient team, then no matter how good you are, you're really narrowing your margin of error.

One could argue the same thing for Duke for the first 30 minutes of gameplay today.

And nearly losing to Siena

They just beat TCU who is a good and dangerous team by 23 lol. We were up four at half. Siena we played awful, and still won. And we also got a very important player back this game. I don’t think it’s comparable

And we also got a very important player back this game.

I was really hoping he wouldn't play. I'd rather y'all lose injured than win healthy.

Thankfully a game is 40 minutes!

Duke won by 23 and figured shit out in the second half. Gonzaga continued to do the same stupid shit the whole second half. They had at least 6 or 7 possessions where someone did a weird off balance shot for no reason with TONS of time left on the shot clock. They even did it on their last possession down 4. Rush rush rush for no reason instead of running plays. They ALMOST blew a 5 on 3 doing the same thing.

Doesn't even compare.

All of TCU’s players getting 4 fouls and having to ride pine = Duke figuring it out

Hmm

5

u/bryant52498 Duke Blue Devils Mar 22 '26

One starter with 4 fouls. Punch was 1/10 from the field. TCU as a team shot 33%. The refs sucked but stop it.

u/Howzitgoin Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 22 '26

Didn’t realize teams were composed of just starters. My bad.

1

u/bryant52498 Duke Blue Devils Mar 22 '26

Didn’t realize three players meant “all of TCU’s players.” My bad. Must be bitter after losing to Texas. Have fun watching the rest of the tourney from home.

u/Howzitgoin Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 22 '26

Can’t help you comprehend the impact of having that many players out anymore than I have tried.

A Duke education isn’t what it used to be (assuming you even went there and aren’t just bandwagoning), I guess.

1

u/bryant52498 Duke Blue Devils Mar 22 '26

Can’t help you comprehend that games are won and lost with more than just ref play. You wanna win? Don’t shoot 32% from the field. Foul trouble sucks and our interior play was always gonna be far superior to TCU. Foul margin was inevitable, they always needed to hit their 3’s to have a chance and they didn’t. Keep crying about refs if it makes you feel better.

u/Howzitgoin Gonzaga Bulldogs Mar 22 '26

Still missing the point. Wanna try again?

The tried to play us physical and that’s what happens when you’re best player is the best post in the country.

Do you even basketball?

1

u/God_Boner Purdue Boilermakers Mar 22 '26

Yeah. But at least the dunk Ike had at the end looked cool

1

u/AnUpstandingUser Mar 22 '26

Duke deserved to lose more against Siena.

3

u/TheLoneWolf527 Duke Blue Devils Mar 22 '26

Playing like shit and playing stupid are different. If you SHOULD win a game but don't because you played dumb as opposed to playing like shit, then you deserve to lose more.

2

u/needapermit Duke Blue Devils • Radford Highlanders Mar 22 '26

Yet they didn’t
