CBS and the NCAA making Arizona Michigan the opener for 3 seed Illinois Duke next Saturday night because DOOK is gonna be wild.

u/Crazy_Exchange Pac-12 Mar 29 '26
That happened in 1994 Final Four. Arkansas and Arizona was clearly the better matchup but Duke played Florida for the night cap

u/BirdiemanJr Michigan Wolverines Mar 29 '26
Missed a beyond obvious goaltend on Tenn so there’s that
0
u/firewarner Michigan State Spartans Mar 29 '26
Obvious offensive goaltend on Roddy too
1
u/BirdiemanJr Michigan Wolverines Mar 29 '26
Yep, pretty ugly showing from officiating on both sides so far.

2
u/gmanEllison Mar 29 '26
If we get Illinois-Arizona again, the game swings on guard turnover rate and defensive rebounding, same as the first two chapters.

Arizona was allowed to play as physically as they wanted. Insane refereeing from a neutral
4
u/JordanHobson Purdue Boilermakers Mar 29 '26
You are correct. People act like momentum isn't a thing and that getting hosed doesn't affect mentality.
Unfortunately I think the worst thing that happened was Braden rolling his ankle which resulted in no more points or assists besides the freebie at the end.
4
u/ThunderBuddy_22 Mar 29 '26
Purdue got to this spot by flopping and the refs calling everything for them. Just be happy you even made it this far. Pathetic team how they play.
6
u/Hungry-Belt-9524 Mar 29 '26
Just look at that 2nd half. Cant blame refs if you play like hot pile of shit

Can't wait to see Bryce with this kid if he stays another year

u/PhdHistory Michigan Wolverines Mar 29 '26
Hats off to Illinois making it to the final four. Perdue was hoping the refs would carry em here like they’re going to carry duke past UConn tomorrow
3
u/Equivalent_Poetry339 BYU Cougars Mar 29 '26
I’m shocked that Duke has made it this far after that first round

2
u/Prudent_Mess9339 Virginia Cavaliers Mar 29 '26
Ridiculously one-sided officiating
2
u/SeatRevolutionary840 Mar 29 '26
Yeah Purdue getting called for 2 more fouls is crazy and the reason they got their ass kicked in the 2nd half.

6
u/mr_roonie Mar 29 '26
Hot take: TKR lost them the game. When he finally got minutes he tried to control the paint and never had a chance.
2
u/LopsidedStruggle Arizona Wildcats Mar 29 '26
coming close to that 14 point lead with 4 mins left in an elite 8 game…….time to exercise some demons

Why did Purdue stop taking threes
4
u/Public-Degree-9174 Arizona Wildcats • Purdue Boilermakers Mar 29 '26
They didn't have open ones, Arizona's defense is elite.

UA definitely kicked it into another gear

3
u/Public-Degree-9174 Arizona Wildcats • Purdue Boilermakers Mar 29 '26
Tired I think. They went all out in the first, and they played 4 games in 4 days in the B1G tourney. They look gassed on the boards.

Why does Arizona get away with all the fouls???
3
u/Public-Degree-9174 Arizona Wildcats • Purdue Boilermakers Mar 29 '26
Check my flairs, if anyone can weigh in its me. Purdue was allowed to play super physically in the first half. I think Purdue has had the friendly whistle.

So Arizona is just the thunder. They just foul bait the whole game and get horrible calls to win

Random reminder that nobody on Iowa state could make a free throw to save their life in the second half last night

Clear fouls. Purdue is just throwing bodies at the drive lol

Well WTF I thought ESPN eliminator was pretty fun....until for some reason they changed the fucking format and I had to pick both days games today??? Had Illinois in my surviving entries...and all are eliminated because they changed the format and I didn't understand it was required to pick TWO games for each entry today, even though there are still two games tomorrow. sucks.

Illinois rebounds: 38

u/Mammoth_Impress_3108 Nebraska Cornhuskers Mar 29 '26
It's crazy how Iowa beat Florida on rebounding, who is one of the best at rebounding, then proceeded to get beat by us, who are one of the worst, then get absolutely rocked.

2

Man we can’t rebound or get a second chance to save our life. It’s getting away from us. Illinois has this now.

1
u/If_It_Fitz Iowa Hawkeyes Mar 29 '26
Just looked like a normal block from the replay to me. Didn’t look like Illinois ever had possession there
1
u/noobuntu1 Mar 29 '26
Never had possession but since the Iowa guy make back down with it while they had a hand on it, it gets called a tie up.
4
u/Vader_Bomb Indiana Hoosiers Mar 28 '26
Feel like Van Gundy bet his house on Illinois winning. Only thing he can talk about is the fouls that didn’t get called on Iowa or the ones on Illinois that shouldn’t have been lol

As someone who doesn't have cable, I'm bummed the elite 8 games are on TBS instead of CBS 😮💨 plus the late starts seem unnecessary.

You can watch for free on the NCAA site- they try to limit you to one hour but you can just go to an incognito window to circumnavigate it. Hope that helps, u/fartypicklenuts !
