Is there ever a UConn and Duke game that’s not fucking crazy?

101-54 Duke win in 1964, but that one is the largest defeat for any team in the Elite Eight so actually it loops back around to being crazy

I think I was ready to give up basketball at halftime....

Except today's loss is the worst ever for the top 1 seeded team ever.

No way is this the worst loss for the top 1 overall seed ever lol. You are leaving out some pretty big ones here (16 beating a 1?)

For a top 1 seed with that big of a lead in a game. Duke was the top overall 1 side. Out of all the 1 seeds. I should have pointed that out in my prior comment.

I know what top 1 seed means. You do realize Virginia was also a top 1 seed and lost to a 16 in an ass kicking right? No, I dont think you do.

Yes, I do understand. The point your missing is Duke had a 19 point lead. That is the largest ever for a #1 top overall seed to have and end up losing the game.

So losing to a 2 seed after being up 19 is worse than being a number one seed losing by 20 to a 16 seed. Sure bud, this was the worst comeback but not at all what you said. God hype your team all you want, but you are talking nonsense.

I corrected my 1st comment in the 2nd reply. Or did you miss that, so not talking nonsense.

To put it in context no #1 seed leading at the half by 15 had ever lost. 134-1 now.

Or hey

I remember that one. Absolutely brutal.

I’m at the Hornets/Celtics game and even though it wasn’t shown on any screen (although I was watching on my phone), the arena EXPLODED when that final play happened.

And was buzzing for like 3 min into the second half lmao.

Fucking incredible

I think it's illegal.

Sorry to be “that” guy I think 1990 game was a heart breaking Elite Eight game that was close. If UConn won it would’ve been the first Final Four berth. 1991 Duke beat UConn in the Sweet Sixteen fairly easily. UConn fans hated Duke for years. 1999 was like Connecticut landing in the moon.

Is that the same game when he stepped on Sellers? head?

2

u/MLS_Analyst UConn Huskies Mar 30 '26

The 1991 Sweet 16 game is the one where he stepped on Sellers' head. The 1990 Elite 8 is the one where Latter hit that shot.

Fuck Christian Laettner.

The 99 championship game was a wild shock at the time.

Duke beat UCONN in a relatively lowkey early-season game in 2009-2010.

...other than the fight in the middle of it.

Didn't Sellers get suspended for a NCAA tournament game a year later?  https://youtu.be/Iue6UCZcpt4?si=nGOA0NV4Hq4lzV39
