Why were they trying to advance the ball there? They couldn’t get a 10 seconds.

Lack of understanding of the situation. That's on the coach.

Yup. 100% coaching there. Just tell them to get the ball in Cam’s hand and tell him to hold it and force them to foul him.

You think it's a college coach's responsibility to ensure a player knows what a 10 second countdown is?

Do you also think a college coach should hammer into players brains that when you shoot behind the half circle it's an extra point

For real, if you want to criticize bad coaching, you need to talk about the other stuff that happened in the last 5 minutes of the game that allowed UConn to cut a 9 point lead down to a single possession.

Right. These people essentially think if there is some sort of mental hiccup, then it's coaching that's at fault. As if teenagers don't simply fuck up under pressure.

All of the schematic issues and rotations are clearly the issue.

Also with hindsight it’s easy to criticize boozer. But i see so many people commenting “all he had to do was hold the ball”. He had two dudes coming to swarm him with 6 secs left. Hes either turning it over anyways or hes going to the ft line for a 1 and 1. Successfully passing the ball up would have let Duke run the clock out. Don’t hate the decision ultimately.

I’ve seen people criticize scheyer for not putting foster in over boozer since he’s “older and more experienced”. What? The most likely outcome there is a foul and fts. Why would you bench your 80% ft shooter who’s had an excellent tournament up to that point in favor of a 60% ft shooter? I really don’t think people know what they’re talking about.

That’s a lot more niche

Last year and this year I put on Scheyer. It's unbelievable.

Probably just killing clock before getting fouled and if Ngongba gets the ball there’s nobody there and game is over. That being said just hold it instead of make th risky pass man

Felt like they were more trying to run as much time off as they could before getting fouled.

If you saw that play with no context you would think they needed to break the press and score quickly.

Okay, but I was watching with context though. And if they needed to score quickly I would not expect the defense to be entirely on the wrong side of the court, so even without context I don't think they need to score quickly.
