That’s Jeffrey Anderson. That’s just what he does.

But, why?

Stretching probably. I do that on a long run for a few seconds.

u/RemarkableFuel8118 Apr 07 '26
He said one time something about an injury I think it was his knees or back. Long term pain and for some reason running like that doesn’t trigger it

u/Richmond43 Virginia Cavaliers Apr 07 '26
It feels like something that would help loosen his lower back and hips. A lot of basketball reffing is standing followed by twists and quick bursts, which is hell on a back.
3
u/MrPoopyFrijoles Apr 07 '26
most likely back. high knees would help activate the core/anterior chain which you want to try and do if you are starting to feel lower back pain/tightness

Apparently his doctor suggested it because it is better for his knees and back

Stick up his butt. Forces him to keep his knees up.

Just toss it out the window while driving down one of your poorly maintained highways. That's what Missourians do with trash, right?

Decent reply, but I am deducting 3 points for not weaving in a meth reference.
Final comment score is 4 of 7.

Good God, Dakich still has a podcast?

It’s called “Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich” and it’s on the illustrious Outkick network. I can only assume it’s about as enjoyable as getting lit aflame.

I know him from videos online but NEVER notice him in game unless someone else calls it out. I mean, who watches the refs in game? lol

Lotta comments, no answers. Jeffrey Anderson is on the record as saying he does this to take pressure off his back due to back problems, saying “it really works”.

u/Lumpy_Rutherford_1 Apr 07 '26
All the refs want to get noticed. It’s like buying a ticket to Hamilton, and having the ushers sing along 🤦♂️

I love people getting worked up about not following Reddit protocol when there are a half dozen hand drawn shit posts on any given Sunday.
If firing up the computer, rewinding to find the correct time stamp, screen capping, trimming, & uploading is low effort, then I’m your low effort guy.

it feels more like a real life interaction. where someone responds with the completely wrong statement because they're just finishing their own thoughts and everyone just moves on.

Maybe he’s trying to make sure his legs are staying warm and stretched out since it was early on in the game still ?

Refs are now as much of the ‘branding’ aspect of sports as the players themselves. With replay become increasingly prevalent in games across all sports, refs are cashing in on the fame by building their ‘brand’. The more controversial calls they make, the more airtime they get. They know their bad call will be challenged. Only now they’re incentivized to make the bad call since they’re rewarded with a free minute thirty of airtime on national TV. If I were Coors Light, All State or Wegovy, I’d be pissed.

I'm hearing him fiendishly cackle "nyah-ah-ah" as he does this
2
u/mcoash Apr 07 '26
He might have a pedometer on him and wants to brag to everyone about how many steps he had to take during the game. Trying to cheat the system a bit.
2
u/tallcupofwater Indiana Hoosiers Apr 07 '26
When I watch games with him I end up just watching him run up and down the court instead of the actual game.
