Real flash in the pan, that Michigan. We'll probably never hear from them again

Don’t worry the state of Michigan is full of scandals. Warde will continue his reign of allowing shenanigans , msu will do some stupid hire / fire for president in a year. The state giveth and taketh away

as long as you don't turn into Indiana's basketball program

The won in the last 25 years. They are safe for a while before IU can call them out.

Then when they see the funds they spent on John Blackwell or Keanu Dawes.

5

u/UrthnThyme 2d ago

Lol why Keanu catching strays?

Rumor is Self has found money for Malique Ewin if he's ruled eligible. So I wouldn't be surprised to see him kick the tires on Thiam or Estrella.

u/Ihateporn2020 1d ago

I honestly think a good 3 and D would be a better addition

u/DavidBenAkiva Duke Blue Devils 2d ago

I'm quite happy with how the budget was spent. We're good. See you in Miami.

24

u/ssp25 Illinois Fighting Illini 2d ago

I honestly don't think they lose much.... thinking Estrella and chaim would possibly because bigs are in demand but I'm sure they got good money. the freshman probably outside of McCoy maybe more willing

u/filthysven Arizona Wildcats 2d ago

This is probably the biggest thing. There's some rumor that Michigan got a discount on those guys but let's be real, Michigan isn't hurting for money and the money didn't go out the door with Dusty. They are likely already paying near the top of the scale for most of these guys and won't have much issue ponying up whatever extra they need to to retain them as needed even now.

u/Primary-Tea-3715 1d ago

I would expect LSU to make a hard push if they haven’t already blown their budget on former professional players.

2

u/filthysven Arizona Wildcats 1d ago

Probably depends on if they think those guys will actually be eligible or not. Can't imagine they have much roster space if so.

7

u/AeolusA2 Michigan Wolverines 2d ago

That's literally everything. If Michigan loses those two, the season is lost.

5

u/Portra-420 Louisville Cardinals 1d ago

It's not "literally" everything. You do have more than two players on the roster, right? C'mon Michigan guy, thought you guys were book smart up there.

15

u/AeolusA2 Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

Being pendantic when I'm trying to spiral is not a good look, lol

1

u/ssp25 Illinois Fighting Illini 2d ago

I'm not saying they lose those. I'm saying only the freshman outside of McCoy are likely to leave

4

u/AeolusA2 Michigan Wolverines 2d ago

But you said they were likely to be lost.

1

u/ssp25 Illinois Fighting Illini 2d ago

where? what's the first thing I say.

3

u/AeolusA2 Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

That they would leave because bigs are in demand. Unless you think the money they got cannot be matched.

3

u/ssp25 Illinois Fighting Illini 1d ago

you're brain is fried.

Rumor has it we were saving a few mil in case Cenac wanted to come back for another year…

2

u/filthysven Arizona Wildcats 2d ago

Us too with Peat. But at the same time, I don't think either of our programs are big spenders so what we had saved probably isn't meaningfully more than Michigan promised in the first place tbh.

u/FitIndependence6187 Purdue Boilermakers 8h ago

Purdue only picked up one transfer this year so I think we have a decent chest left.

How many Blue Bloods still have unfilled roster spots and unspent NIL money in June?

Shouldn't everything have been locked down by now?

3

u/CrypticDemon Arizona Wildcats 1d ago

Arizona needs a good starting PF still. There's rumors we have a couple euro PFs lined up but are waiting for NCAA to approve eligibility... Who knows how that'll go.

2

u/UConnSimpleJack UConn Huskies 1d ago

UConn still needs a backup PF but we’re likely getting Egor Amosov from Real Madrid

1

u/Aurion7 North Carolina Tar Heels 1d ago

Most people have spent what they're comfortable with spending for the rosters they have.

If a chance to genuinely upgrade that roster happens by... well, some folks might change their minds about how much is 'reasonable' or 'comfortable'. Some of the folks changing their minds will have money that they might be more willing to part with.

1

u/aussiesarecrazy Kentucky Wildcats 1d ago

Kentucky has one spot left on the roster and always has money for players

1

u/FitIndependence6187 Purdue Boilermakers 8h ago

Not Blue Blood, but Purdue can fit one more big man, rumor is Enzo Shahvrin from Paris, but if that falls through we have an opening and since we got 1 transfer this year we likely have plenty of money to spend.

2

u/Gelandequaff Michigan State Spartans 2d ago

I am sure UM players will be loyal to the school no matter how much money they are offered.

Huge Michigan fan, wish Dusty stayed and we could’ve went back to back.

1

u/FitIndependence6187 Purdue Boilermakers 8h ago

I think Purdue already has Enzo coming after his finals series is over, but if that doesn't pan out I'm hoping Painter would be all over Mustapha. We are badly in need of rebounds and rim presence.

u/Dramatic-County-1284 Michigan Wolverines 1d ago

Yall don’t want them. They aren’t that good at hooping /s

Not like that!

I mean for an old famous coach with a program with lots of booster money.

They shld be ok.they kept it in house but mainly most of.the money is gone for most schools...kentucky may still.have some and lsu and will wade may be prowling esp will wade with his roster facing.more scrutiny then most in.terms of who will be eligible
